    Hi guys,

I did a quick search and saw the only real mention of this browser was back in 2008 (that I could find, please forgive me if it's been discussed more recently)... I'm pretty sure it's come a long way since then, so I thought I'd take a few minutes to share with you all =)

It's called Maxthon, and it's a great browser. It has the most HTML5 compatibility out of any of the major browsers, and is faster than them all as well (the website claims 200% faster than chrome, and after using it for a bit I'm inclined to believe them).

    Here's the link:

    Code:
    hxxp://www.maxthon.com/

And here is a 3rd party comparison between Maxthon, Chrome Canary (the latest version of Chrome) and Firefox 12 (testing HTML5 compatibility):

    Code:
    hxxp://html5test.com/compare/browser/maxthon337/chromecanary/ff12.html

Anyways, I highly encourage everyone to try it out... especially if you're using Chrome and giving Big G more information than they already have =P

Let me know what you think!

(And if this has already been discussed, I apologize, and mods pls feel free to delete the thread--no hard feelings ;) )

lol I wish I did... but no haha. Just wanted to let other people know about it in case they hadn't heard of it.

But as I have been working more on developing HTML5 code, I found this and respect how badass it is and how the company is working towards full HTML5 support more aggressively than any of the other browsers.

It uses IE engine, doesn't it?
As I remember that was the reason I preferred Opera over Maxthon.

It's pretty good in speed. Definitely up there with chrome, but idk how I feel about that scrolling. It's not crisp enough.

And holy crap, way too many preinstalled features and attachments.

Does it have anything to aid with IM?

It looks good and runs a lot faster for me at least. I'm going to probably switch everything over tomorrow (it put all my pr0n links as bookmarks under the navigation ftw).

Argh, just noticed the typo in the title of the thread "Browser the blows the..." ugh I need a break from the computer, been working on programming for 15+ hours/day for the past 8 days straight lol.

Anyways, apparently the latest maxthon browser supports both the Trident and the WebKit rendering engines (in response to the question about being based on IE(trident)).

Yeah the proxy switching is pretty slick!

And nah not really anything with aiding IM, but it does have some useful features built in, plus being able to navigate to and load pages faster can help speed up productivity, at least slightly =P

haha glad you like it, its speed is quite noticeable for me too.

No problem, glad you like it! I figured a lot of people would think it was great--I was personally getting tired of Chrome and FF lol

BHW Android Browser (Custom Maxthon Browser):

    Code:
    http://custom.maxthon.com/apk/100000000841_9644_8039.apk
Link is direct from Maxthon hence no virus total scan. Enjoy, haven't tested it myself yet, lol. If anyone gets the chance to, let us know.

Edit: Just tested it and I have to say that the Maxthon browser is pretty awesome when it comes to Android.

Yeah it is a really awesome browser. I have used it myself and it is much faster than
even chrome or firefox. I would recommend it. Also some of the extensions for it is
    amazing.

Installed and imported. This thing is crazy fast. Bye Bye Chrome, Hello Maxthon!

P.S. If you are used to the Chrome interface, go to themes and search more themes. There a Chrome theme on their website and the maxthon interface becomes 95% like chrome :)

Same thoughts here, the scrolling feels slightly out of touch or should I say delayed?

I use 2 finger scrolling on my laptop's touchpad and think the response time is spot on... not sure what you're referring to about the delayed (or not crisp) scrolling... Unless you're referring to holding down the scroll arrows with the left mouse button... just tried this for the first time and it does seem a little jerky... But I always scroll with 2 fingers or by clicking the scrollbar itself, so it's not a dealbreaker for me personally =P
