Brilliantly Evil Business Model

This type of sites started to appear in my country about a year ago, first ones made some really good money, but this biz died in three months because of the saturation, there was a new site appearing almost every day.

If anyone wants to null the script... it can be bought here.

Code:
http://www.pennyauctionscript.com/Order.php

It is $800. Group Buy and/or JV anyone? Swoopo sounds cool. Now imagine it hosted and PPC marketed by a group from BHW. Heck, we could run with popular niche products from Amazon, source them from Amazon and profit from the bid fees. Imagine an auction site just for ipods, another site just for cameras...

I have a legal copy...

Too many think its scam system now search google
The cashboat is missed apart from the originators

Too bad for $800 you only get the basic script, and you have to pay a lot for plugins ($1000+)

You are so wrong, did you see how much traffic Swoopo is getting? It gets crazy amounts on all it's websites.

The international site is 10,000 alexa rank and the UK site is like 25,000 I think. They are making millions.

It's also worth mentioning that some clever people can probably get a good deal on Swoopo if they manage to bid late enough.. so it's not totally evil :)

Funny all these people with no coding skills can't even do it because they have to buy a script and if they aren't willing to pay $800 or $1,000 for that then they should give up now. I'll be coding a custom solution, even though I'm an amateur coder but I'm happy to read up on AJAX and improve myself, so it's a win-win improved coding skills and a nice site at the end of it.

I was watching Swoopo for 5 mins, its just crazy whats going on for a mobile phone, like 1 second left, and its gets 5-10 bid, time jumps up to 10-15 sec again... someone actually win it, used 58 bid (each bid $0.6) + 15$ for the auction price

@wawekakaiko @techit99 @LaveymorT

LaveymorT already has the script. If techIT can clone it we can crank out tons of niche sites built on it, promote them, and either make money from auctions or from flipping the sites. Even if we don't clone it, with several of us splitting the hosting fees and cooperate on promoting the sites through PPC and linkbuilding, we could do well. If we're going to do this, I want to do it right, though, and incorporate - splitting ownership equally. All I bring to the table are basic web design skills, great copy writing skills, knowledge of Wordpress, SEO and of course all the tools BHW offers.

I am Greyhatter on yahoo IM, greyhatdude on AIM and I'm down for this project or any other co-op type of business, link exchanges, linkfarm crosslinking, whatever.

Yeah because its Swoopo and not your site
Like I said

When you guys start it, pm me your link so I can go on there and win everything since yall will have 0 visitors.

Saved to my MF account, thanks given.
CakePHP can be enabled on shared hosting, but I'm guessing that you're saying that won't cut it.

Well, when you add auctions, the timers take a lot of server load and if some traffic starts coming in, I don't think that shared hosting will be able to handle it. It will at least require a VPS (IMO).

But you can test it on your shared hosting account, anyways.

The new york times wrote an article about the site. People may overspend but items are delivered, im guessing you did something wrong.

i was a member of swoopo and invested $200 in it.. to find out i didn't got any prize out of the 4 that i won
i chargedback them for my $200 and won

they are completely a scam!

I am sure something went wrong because they are a genuine business.

A VPS doesn't cost much. I think Dreamhost charges $20 and someone on the team with an affiliate link could make $97. They could turn right around and take that money and pay for several months of hosting and/or a cheap logo design. :prof01:

I'd like to see this script in action on big ticket items over $100k each. And I have some specific items in mind. The PR we could get on niche sites like that would be mind-blowing.

Several people have offered to collaborate on this. I'm ready to pull the trigger on a domain name. Suddenly I see a legit use for Google Wave.

There has also been two reviews of the site using years of data by two university professors. Cool reading, but then I got to all the computations, chalk board type equations, head started spinning so I quit reading.
