This is for brands only.
The question is how tedious is the process to acquire one as I can see how this could help me in spamming.
I highly doubt they give these out for offshore shelf companies that you can open for a couple of hundred bucks.

10 years ago, only 35% of world's population were on internet, as of january this year it's 65% and it's rising fast, it means more opportunity but of course more risks, that's why verification, getting rid of spam, seems to be the trend.

Seems like it will be based on bimi.
If that is true, this check already exists anyway. Only that they will add a checkmark instead of not showing anything special (and sending the non passed ones to spam/saying it may be dangerous).
Also, if the check is based on bimi, you don’t have to pay anything. Just add the bimi record properly and you are all set to receive the checkmark.

It's not completely free.
For one, BIMI requires a VMC, a verified mark certificate for which you need to own the trademark of your logo. So if you don't do have that already, gotta apply and pay some big bucks for that trademark.
And that VMC ain't free either. These special kind of certs are expensive as shit and there are only 2 CAs who issue these apparently.
Gotta spend good money for that checkmark ig :|
