I just now bought an expired PR 3 domain and registered it with Godaddy. I checked the PR from various sources but all say it is 3.

When I went to google and typed the site:http://domainname.com but it gives nothing about the site.

The domain has been expired yersterday, so I can't come to the decision that google has removed it from the index due to expiring a long time ago.

Is it normal or is my site blacklisted from google. But if so how can it still have the Page Rank?

    Thank you.

The commands to run are "site:domain.ext" and "info:domain.ext" (don't put the http) in there. If no results show up for the "site" command or no results (or different domain name) show up for the "info:" command, then its possible that the domain was penalized. Let us know what comes up and maybe we can help you further.

You may also want to check the back links to this site and wayback archive to see if this site was used for spammy seo before.

Thank you very much for your advice. I checked the two commands and it worked for the "site" command without the http prefix.

Now I can decide that the site is not penalized. But unfortunately I did this to two other PR 2 sites which I bought yersterday, but nothing came for any of the "info" or "site" commands.

Do you think these sites are penalized, and is there a way I can get them restored. Or can I sell those on flippa because still those have their Page Ranks. But no much backlinks at all.

You shouldn't judge the power of a domain by its PR. If the two PR2 sites aren't indexed, then that is already a bad signal. You should check their "history" using the wayback machine and check their backlink profiles to see if they have been spammed (bad signal) and if they have some strong backlinks coming at them (good signal). Do not rely solely on metrics such as PR, they can be easily faked.

The sites maybe penalized. If you plan to use them, what I would suggest is putting up a few pages on them and seeing if they get indexed in a couple of weeks. Till then, I would not use them for any linking or 301 activities, as the penalty could transfer to your money site.

If the sites have no back links or no good back links, then I would probably just chuck them. Accept that you made a mistake in buying them and move on. Everyone buys a lemon and then learns.

Selling this on flippa for its PR would mean selling a lemon to someone who does not know enough to figure out real PR. I would'nt. Karma bites back :)

Now I will bring up some pages and add some content to see if those get indexed. If they do, I'm lucky, but if not I'll think about selling. I'm also afraid of karma, but I hope i'll not need to sell them.

Thank you all for your advices.

Id get majestic seo or ahrefs and have a proper look at the backlink history, trust flow and citation flow etc. I use majestic personally when looking at domains. Iv came across sites with a higher pr than that and they are garbage. Guess people must just spam them to death so the pr goes up then sell them before google gets to it and penalizes it

If it is not indexed after a while (let's say 2 weeks), then it is penalized
