So, here's something I don't understand.

When you make a wordpress website, you can choose 1 (if more, you pay) keyword and that's the word you rank for. Yoast gives you all the tips according to that keyword.

Now, I've just found out that blogger gives free hosting, even with a custom domain so I switched to that. Anyway, I researched on how to add keywords to a blogger article, and this is what I found:

Does this mean that I can add infinite keywords here? How is that possible?

Mate, it's an outdated article. Meta keywords are not a ranking factor. It was announced by Matt Cutts several years ago.

Please don't confuse "meta keywords" with the "focus keyword" being referred to by Yoast SEO plugin.

Yeah, I subsequently realized that this has nothing to do with keywords. I just have to put the desired keyword in the title and mention it several times in the article, I don't have to ''choose'' anything, right? I thought when I picked a keyword with yoast, that it ''selected'' my keyword, but I realized that was just to help me write. I don't have to select anything, I just have to write, right?

Yes, putting a keyword in meta keyword section, Yoast help to optimize article properly. Yoast checks and makes sure that keyword used at least a number of times what is Google friendly.

Aha, I see. I guess I'll write my articles in wordpress then and paste them to blogger :p

Do not overuse your keyword. There's no hard and fast rule when it comes to keyword density but not going beyond 1% keyword density is not painful to the eye.

You can read this guide to understand the Yoast uses https://yoast.com/beginners-guide-yoast-seo/

Yeah I get it now. It was just a misunderstanding. I thought I needed to add a keyword to the plugin to be able to rank on google, but I realized that keyword was just to help me optimize my content around the keyword. Hence, I will write my articles in WP and use Yoast to optimize my content for the highest seo score and paste them to blogger.

Yeah, I'll use low comp long tails so I definitely can't overuse them. If anything, I will have to try to use them enough without it looking weird.
