    I have a question about the Blogger Archive Gadget, i'm confused about something.

    Main point is that - from what i've read - the archive gadget gets indexed, and then it counts like duplicate content, and you may get penalized by search engines. Or because in the archive gadget you have a lot of links, it's not good for SEO. Ok, i assume that there is something negatie about the archive gadget because of all the tutorials out there saying it is so, and showing you a way to eliminate the problem.

    However, the way of eliminating the problem, there's so many of them, and i don't know which i should use. I just want this problem fixed, but i don't want the fix to affect something else negatively. So here are the ways i've found:

    ===========================

    1. In your blog's HTML, Search for this:

    <a class='post-count-link' expr:href='data:i.url'>

    And Replace with this

    <a rel="archives" class='post-count-link' expr:href='data:i.url'>

    ===========================

    2. In your blog's HTML, Find the <Head> tag.

    And below it insert this:

    <b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == "archive"'>
    <meta content='noindex,noarchive' name='robots'/>
    </b:if>
    ===========================

    3. Add this to robots.txt:

    Disallow: /*_archive.html$

    Tells the crawlers not to index the archive pages.

    ===========================

    I would go with Number 1, as i see it mostly mentioned as "The Solution" to this problem... However, knowing that most of these blogger tutorial sites just copy others and then write crappy articles and posts them like they know something, i thought id ask what/and if, i should do??
