The initial boost is due to the fresh index, it boosts posts so that recent events are found. Then you are moved to the big fat and stale index where nothing is ever forgotten. If you spam the big fat stale index, it may affect your "freshness" results in the future if you're marked as a spammer.

yeah, it is normal to get initial boost then slowly getting down.. just wait for some time to settle down and then if you want to push up start doing link building..

If your page gets down, yes... you need to do link building toward to the page daily until it move up to the first page.

Also, keep in mind that there's a large variety of factors that could cause this to happen - such as Google noticing the page has a high bounce rate from traffic they send to it.

If I go for link building, is there any approximate percentage for total nofollow, ********, pr 1 to 9, .co-m - .ed-u level links to build?, Also many of my competitors have backlinks in pages which have too many links may I follow the same method?, As I am new to SEO pls anyone clarify my doubt, bcoz for my previous blog I build backlinks in my own way though it got good position for some period now it is not performing well..

This sudden changes occurs due to fresh index, it might take some time to stay constant! but you have to continue building links to improve site's Rank

This reminds me of YouTube somehow.
When you upload your video, you are most of the times high in the rankings and then they start dropping.
