Those of you who know me know that I'm a programmer with very little IM knowledge. In other words, I can make the tools but I don't know when or how to use them.

So, after some procrastinating, I've decided to try my hand at affiliate marketing. Below you can find the details of what I'm doing. Please don't ask me to post a link to the blog or to reveal what product I'm marketing exactly - all I'm going to say is that the blog is modelled after
    Code:
    http://energyfromhome.com/
and that the product is in a health-related niche.

    Here's the main idea

    1. Pick a solid affiliate product in a good niche
    2. Set up a blog marketing this product
    3. Use Wordpress comment spamming, social bookmarking, and article marketing to drive traffic
    4. Start lighting Cubans with $100 bills (optional)

    What I've done so far:
    • Picked a great product with a great landing page and good-looking banners and other creatives
    • Created the blog: Chose a clean, relevant template, installed google analytics, wrote meta keyword/description, wrote 4 posts containing important keywords in title
    • Created a Wordpress blog harvester and comment spammer app
    • Used said app to create about 50 comments (set it to comment on 100 blogs but not all worked). I made sure the comments weren't that "spammy".
    • Used Article Submitter to create author accounts in over 300 directories

What I need to do now:
    • Create articles to submit to directories
    • Create social bookmarking accounts for SocialSubmitter
    • Submit articles
    • Create social bookmarks using SocialSubmitter
    • Scale up the blog comment spamming

I'm gonna create the backlinks little by little because I don't want to get flagged as a spammer by the big G.

After I get the hang of this I'll repeat the process and scale it up by automation, which is fairly easy. The only thing which isn't automated is the actual creation of the blog but this only took me about an hour, including writing the posts.

Anyway, if anyone has any questions, comments, or advice, go right ahead. I'll keep updating the thread with traffic/sales updates - if I don't then feel free to harrass me by PM or otherwise!

Sent out about 200 more blog comments this evening. Apparently my blog isn't even indexed yet so I'm gonna wait until it is before I do anything more.

Submitted an article (with keywords in title and body) to about 250 directories using Article Submitter and then bookmarked the blog on Digg, Stumble, and a few other of the major sites. In the meantime, here are the stats for yesterday (bear in mind the blog wasn't indexed yet):

    Hits to blog: 17
Hits to affiliate landing page: 6
    Sales: 0

Pretty nice Headspin, looking forward to seeing how it turns out. All pretty basic stuff being put to work is good to see :)

Looks promising as you already have 17 hits and not even indexed yet!

Just make sure your consistent and persistent ;)

    Good luck man!

    Thanks!

Btw, just reviewed traffic stats and it turns out most of the hits to the affiliate landing page are coming from my signature in another forum. Only 2 of the 6 are actually coming from the blog.

Thank you for sharing! That gives us, newbies, some guiding light in the darkness of IM.
One thing though, can you post your earnings. It would be really helpful if fellow BH tell us what to stay away from. Don't you think?

No sales so far so no earnings. No expenses either, though. Tomorrow I'm gonna start to work on some social bookmarking methods for this (thinking of the reddit method).

Commenting on that many blogs, does it just get you a Page Rank or traffic from those blogs?

Most of them are nofollow so I'm just aiming for traffic. So far it seems that the article I submitted is doing as good a job as the 400 comments I sent combined. The next time I send comments I'll make my bot look for the commentluv plugin, if I remember correctly that one passes PR.

Edit: Just checked and my blog is finally indexed by Google. You'd think it would take them less than 36 hours to index a blog hosted on their own platform!

    The stats are now:
    Hits to blog: 35
Hits to affiliate landing page: 13
    Sales: 0
    Adsense: $0.4

This morning I found and commented on some ******** blogs. Right now I just commented on 200 blogs (most nofollow probably) and I'm sending 800 more comments. Tomorrow I plan to submit more articles.

As for the reddit method, it probably wouldn't work with this kind of blog so I'm not going to do that for now.

According to Yahoo I now have about 250 backlinks to the blog. Google, however, still says 0 - probably because none of them are ********.

For the commenting I'm using iMacros scripting edition + VB .NET.

Had some internet trouble last night so couldn't send another 200 comments like I planned. To make up for that I'm sending 400 this evening as long as the internet works.

    Stats Update

    Hits to blog: 57
Hits to affiliate landing page: 28
    Sales: 0
    Adsense: $0.4

Agh. So far this is not working very well, but maybe I just to wait a bit and keep building backlinks. As I said yesterday I'm gonna submit an article to the big directories manually (e.g. ezinearticles) so hopefully this will help too.

How do you check your backlinks from big G?

    Using link: or webmasters tools?
