Hi all, I'm quite new to SEO and I was wondering if you would be so kind as to fill a gap in my knowledge. Simple question - is the following plan a good way of pushing a wordpress (newly set up at wordpress dot com) blog up in the serps? The plan: to set up blogs on blogspot, xanga, tripod, vox, wikispaces, wetpaint, activerain and any others I can find. Each new blog will have some non copied content (like bits from my university thesis) and only needs to be indexed by google. Every blog will link to the core domain.wordpress.com blog. I understand that the new blogs I set up will be worth almost nothing in the eyes of google. But if i link each one to the others (or just do 5 links out from each blog to my other blogs) then in theory will their page rank accumulate, thus making their links to the target monetized blog (using commission junction) more valuable? I'm aware there is almost certainly some google algorithm to recognise and stop this, but people have told me that it works. Can anyone confirm if it does or doesn't work? It just seems easier than comment spam, as you spend hours doing it and find not one of your comments got through moderation or they were all nofollow.
