Hi all, I'm in the process of setting up a company that offers webdesign (template reselling actually :p) and I'm gonna go for the big keyword "webdesign" in my own country.. The competition is pretty doable. I already optimized the site but you know how these sites look.. Homepage, About Us, Pricing, Portfolio and Contact Us are practically the only pages you can add to keep it looking legit and professional. In other words the content is really thin, unlike a magazine or blog site which rank more easily after you've add a couple of articles. It's no secret that G loves content and lots of it.

My idea was to add a blog to the site in order to build content and pages. I can get quality content for a very low price so that ain't no problem. BUT I don't want my visitors to actually read the blog.. I just want to SEO benefit from it :) Would this be a good idea and is there a way to hide this blog from visitors but not from Google? It's the first time I'm gonna try to rank a business website so any help is appreciated

Happy new year to you all ;)

You could have reviews of sold templates that would be good for Google and make you more legit to your customers!

You can add a really long Q/A with everything you can think. It should add few more keywords as well as more content to the site.
On the answers try to make it clear on the very first sentence, but still write up 4-5 more sentences with keywords in them :p

Plus the more content you have the more chances you have to become ranked for random long tail keywords which can provide alot more valuable traffic than people realize.

If it's your money site I wouldn't use dummy content though. I've done that with satellites though - put 5k+ words below a full page squeeze and it does rank nicely.

i think the visitors should be able to read the blog, why dont write advices for help your costumers. For example, if your templates are wih joomla or wordpress, you can write articles about how works the backoffice of this CMS, and talk about the more popular plugins...

I don't realy think those visitors are going to be buyers since this content will be more how-to-do type of stuff. These are people looking to create a website themself. On the other hand.. they could read the article and realize it's a ton of work and just outsource it to me :)

Tell me where you from and we could work out a deal maybe :D I still got a shit ton of work to do so a partner would be nice. And profit enough bro :p

I won't be providing any cms options. They pay a monthly fee to maintain the site and the design, which actually is a costumized template so will cost me about 30 min, will be "free". I did some intial testing with 5 local companies. Simply downloaded themeforest templates from the download section here, threw them on a dummy domain, made a logo with the company name and some example text and walked into their store to present them the design. 1 owner was willing to pay right then and there and 2 others needed to think about it but asked for my phone number etc. 2 days later 1 of those 2 confirmed they wanted the site.
Just started this so I could get something to do offline to. I really like the selling and the money ain't bad either :p Anyway that's why I can't write about CMS and those types of things.. Besides I don't wanna give them the idea they could create and manage a site by themself

One of the first things I've learned on BHW regarding SEO is that if you wanna get shit done, you gotta do it yourself ;)

One of my clients asked for the same thing. You want to add loads of content to your site so google will reward you but you don't necessarily want people to read it. Its super easy.

If on your site you have 'Homepage, About Us, Pricing, Portfolio and Contact Us' just keep it at that and add loads of content pages without there being direct access from your site to it. Some people may stumble across it but most probably not.

The only thing to think about tho is it is not as simple as just adding content. Google also looks to see if your blogs are read and for how long etc. You can fake this but its still something to think about......
