I'm a bit of a newbie to this so bare with me

I was thinking about finding high traffic blogs and leaving comments where I would recommend CJ products. The only problem is, I don't have the money to buy these products (yes I'm skint) so I couldn't give a legit review. So I'm basically using my best judgement of the sales page, and other peoples reviews to give a recommendation. Is this legal?

Of course it's legal, ethical? Debatable, but it's legal.

Agree with the poster above. If you want to do it, go for it.. it's legal. I don't think this is a great way to make money though.

Ok that's good to hear. I read on another forum that this comes under false advertising and it is technically illegal. Is that nonsense or is there some truth to that?

good luck with CJ btw. they'll terminate you if they sniff any spam like content. Back when Authority Link Network was padding our pockets, cj caught on and canned me and many others. be warned

It's a gray area. You aren't going to get in trouble for it. There's no way to prove that you do not own the product(s) based on your comment(s).
