    Hi there,

I have tried writing comments on a few tech blogs, but some of the blogs sends me to a completely blank screen when I press submit comment.

Here are some of the posts where my blog commenting fail:
    http://acid42.bluechronicles.net/blog/?p=244
    http://bhopu.com/2007/08/vibeagent-a-web-2-hotel-hunt-site/
    http://blog.reodica.org/2008/01/22/pika-for-asterisk-is-now-trixbox-ce-compatible/
    http://computerscatalog.info/start-a-cell-phone-business-a-how-to-article

    Any idea why?

I add my anchor text, email and url in the relevant fields. And a real, quality comment in the comment field.

    Thanks a lot,
    bhpbhp

Be interesting to see what others say. I googled this and saw that sometime ago there was a whitescreen of death problem with WP, but I am not 100% sure this is the case now.

there was another recent thread about this. The conclusion that was drawn - one or more of your comments has been marked as spam and now askimet associates comments that link back to your site as spam automatically. So, they are automatically filtered or deleted, whatever.

It was suggested to use a different URL for the link back to your site and redirect to your original site that was identified as spam. I tried this but it only worked for one comment. The second comment I tried again was show the blank screen. I wasn't spamming either, the comment had a bit of content relative to the post and no links in the body, just using my my generic username as the link.

Thanks a lot for the answers, but ouch, that doesn't sound good.

What can I do to remedy the situation, so the site I'm linking to isn't considered spam?

(the site I'm linking to is a quality site, i.e. quality content, etc.)

Just really sucks when you make a relevant comment to the particular post, that you can then not really use as a comment for the next post.

I guess if it happens a couple of times though, you have your own post to put on your own blog.

wordpress comment is dead unless you are using quality proxies and have different text in every post you make. Use different url, different Name, different email etc. akismet is hella annoying.

I confirm that Akismet owns your ass now. It happened to me too and it's very frustrating. Since that I gave up with heavy blog commenting for link building, their system is impossible to beat (it's intersting to note that they catch also a lot of non-spammer, figure the frustration...).

Anyway, there's a solution to get your site out from the SPAM list: go here and write them that you are sorry and that you won't post too much comment and blah blah blah.

    Code:
    h**p://akismet.com/contact/
In some days they'll respond you saying you've been unblocked. Actually I think that they are forced to unblock you, I don't think it's legal that they can prevent you from commenting on hundred of thousands blogs.

Anyway, the thing is that if you start again commenting too much like before you'll be caught again. So I don't know how much a solution is this one.

I mean, if you take the time to create a couple good comments (not "great blog, I have bookmarked", etc.) and are rejected, put them together to make a post on your own blog. I imagine you could do the same even if they were accepted.

If the problem is Akismet as seems to be the case, I imagine it has happened to many quality commenters. I would imagine a blog owner will often bulk mark comments at spam and delete them, without looking to see if there were any legitimate comments.

I have to blame askimet. I have blogs showing up with a LOT of "spam" comments when they are not spam at all

This happens to me often and makes me so mad that I wasted my time actually reading the post and finding points to comment on intelligently (and relevant).

My whitehat blog is also in the akismet prison right now.. as what Ive read, akismets decision was based on the network, if many people flagged you as spam, akismet will put you in blacklist.

My conclusion is that, if akismet learns to block a url based on the users inputs, it can also learn how to unblock certain url if many people flagged it as non spam.

My proposal is this. How about building a group here, let us put comments on each others blogs and flag it as non spam? Will that make sense?
