blackwar85 amazon journey

Thanks for actively commenting in my journey itos84!

I am trying to be constant by adding 1 article per week, but I try to make it as high quality and professional as I can. At the moment I am very patient especially with my link building. I will take more aggressive approach when I have no other choice. I am going to give my website about 2 months and if I don`t see it bringing at least 100$ in some months, then I am going to really push it.

I have not done really anything with my site this week except still working on my big article. Why it takes so long, some may ask? Some people/communities who I would like to get involved with it have not responded. And editing/optimizing everything takes a lot of time with these long articles to guarantee the proper social media response. Like always I have done small link building with blog comments, contacting niche authority figures.

I thought I will add picture about my current main keyword rankings in serpbook. Second best.... is plural keyword.

I don't even visit BHW much these days - but when I saw your thread and see what your doing I wanted to post a couple of things.

Probably most important when your starting out in the first 2 months - get great content on your site - organize it so people can find it - optimize everything like buttons/text/images and then see what people tend to like and what they don't and make changes.

add a favicon - add a great header/logo ... all the little things that other Amazon Sites just don't do - and you can tell just by looking at them how bad alot of them are... sure they make money for a little while before dying - but that is not we are looking for .. alot of these things take time the first time you do them - but after that it becomes really easy/fast.

Don't worry about success/failure at this point - worry more about how to make the highest quality site you can .. WHY ? because this is a long term business not a short term one - and the better your keywords/content.structure when you hit Top 3 for your keywords the traffic will come .. then you will make Sales.

I started with 3 Sales a Day then 20 Sales a day - and I thought that was great - but then when I got to 100 Sales a day - I hated to see anything less than 75.

So learn your lessons from Site 1 - test/improve ... then move into other niches/products that maybe even better than the 1st Site you started .... but always check the competition for your main keywords first -- you must be able to get to Top 1-5 otherwise it won't be worth it -- because Social Traffic comes and goes which won't be enough.

Anyway you took action - wish you much success in the future.

very good. my main question with these sites is, how do you analyse competition and whether you can get in the top 1-5 for that keyword?

I'm having trouble with this. More than happy to create original content, spend hours and understand it can take 2-3 months to get going, but my concern is spending all that time and effort and realising the keyword(s) selected are complete no-go areas unless you're a big authority site... in which case I stand no chance.

Hope you, or anyone can help.

Great post and i am glad that you made your first sell i am still waiting for it :D

Thanks for all the responses!

Jmuller: My tip for you is to check these two keywords for your product, best -insert keyword- , -insert keyword- review. Then check all the websites that rank in first page. Be very watchful for sites that are built around entirely your keyword, especially other amazon sites. If you see that other amazon sites rank in first page, but their design looks awful, backlink profile is nothing special, content is average. Then in my opinion it is good niche. Danny said in one of his threads that choose laser targeted niche. That means if you want to make a site about shoes then men`s shoes>outdoor shoes>hunting shoes>be specific as you can. I hope you get the idea. Keep in mind, I am a beginner and this is only my personal opinion based on what I have read/done so far.

Kelso: Yeah, private match domain is right.:)

No, actually PMD is partial match domain. That means my main keyword is involved partially in my domain name.

Tenclouds: Make a good product comparison table and promote it in your niche facebook groups. I got my highest 35 clicks a day to amazon doing it. Definitely worth trying out if you haven`t already.

Suave way to put it. Thanks for the clarification, I should've figured it right away but the late hours working are taking their toe.

Congrats on your journey :D
How many monthly searches does your main keyword have?

Gianex My journey is actually in the very beginning at the moment, but still thanks for good words.:)

I posted a picture above regarding my main keywords, one version has about 1200 and other one 500. It may not seem much, but they are keywords that are usually typed in by people looking to buy products I review. So traffic is quite targeted.

That has to be really targeted with that kind of numbers! Some of the more expensive keywords i guess?

Actually they are not expensive at all. The thing is that these keywords are running through theme of my website. I review products and recommend the best ones, usually it is the highest price one :)
I think maybe I explained it kinda wrong, I do not have one main keyword that I focus the most. Each article or review targets special keywords, product names. Some articles main keyword gets 20,000 monthly searches, one product brand that I have reviewed gets 25,000. I hope you understand what I am trying to say.

That sounds better than what im doing currently (Basically a nice looking site with all kind of amazon products aiming for the spain amazon) I guess targetting hungry buyers is much better

Update number #4

Finally got all the answers and known people comments in my article that I needed. Now it is ready and I am going to start marketing it tomorrow. Just facebook groups, twitter, google +, message back to contributors to look and share the article, stumbleupon and e-mails to similar websites. No additional sales so far. But I am quite that I have begun to rank for keywords that I didn`t in last serpbook picture. Here it is,this time I added example keyword so it is easier to understand what kind of words rank.

29ngeo6.png

Aside of that I have not done anything special. Run addmefast a little bit so my facebook page would have at least some likes, but interestingly just after that, facebook wanted phone verification from me. Probably it was just a coincidence. At last, I will keep you all updated when my article is starting to get some decent amount of social media attention.

How long are your articles? Now I am focused on making articles with a minimum of 1800 words. I know i seems like an overkill but most authority niche sites that post 2-3 times a week use this format and are ranking really great. Also if you make a high quality article you can have some free real backlinks as result.

But at first it's slow, every month the visits will increment making this long format articles.

But at first it's slow, every month the visits will increment making this long format articles.

Usually my articles were usually 500-700 words long. They were really simple and I didn`t go into much depth. Not meant for experienced visitors in my niche. They were more like webpage fillers, so my webpage would look trusted with more content. I could probably fill my site with product reviews too, but I think too many options will make visitor look into another info sources too. So better not too many reviews. In my opinion 1800 words is not overkill at all, if the content is unique in your niche and not so known, more people will share/like or even link to it. But you gotta market it too. My latest article was 3000+ words. I am going to see soon if there is a difference compared to other shorter articles. If it works out well, I am going to keep producing longer and actually useful content.

Update Number #5

So my article did quite good. Especially considering the people in my niche, who are not the biggest internet user and popular content seems to be mostly pictures. I got 600 visitors from 8.am to 8.pm. Mostly from reddit, facebook, stumbleupon and twitter. Some forums have threads about my article too. I was asked for permission from authority figures to feature the article on their site. Total of 50 likes, 10 tweets and 20 google plus. This may seem average to some people, but like I said before, people I target are not the internet person and are looking for photos + videos. Not long articles.

Now, I will definitely will let you all know how much amazon clicks + conversions I am going to get from these 600 visitors. Amazon haven`t put up data yet.

I got many very famous people responses and a lot of authority figures have started e-mailing me to do some co-operation because of that. Now, I as novice in internet marketing would need your opinions.
One of semi-known name contacted me and asked me what are my plans with this site, what audience am I am targeting. He even offered even a possibility of being regular article writer in my site and put up idea to make my niche site to big blog or another words authority site. He offered out a lot of ideas, starting from web interviews what he described where visitors can tune in directly to him spilling out some mud about industry that public don`t know. I know I can get other known persons involved into this too, because like I sayed before they are not experienced at all in doing business in internet. So I could help them in marketing and they would provide content and knowledge about topic. That means I have connections and it seems that my knowledge is enough for making things happen in this niche.

This is a big thing for me as beginner to be approached by these kind of important people.

So what should I do guys?

1.Should I make my site more of an authority one, even though website name and review topics would go against it. Of course I maybe could launch another site. Teaming up with influential people and going for for the biggest and trusted site in my niche.. But there are some questions is 1) I have absolutely no idea how to run a authority site 2) Every single person have contacted my fake identity( older person), no one knows I am 17 3) I am kinda uncomfortable to start this real project. Everyone even left their mobile numbers and I am not born in english speaking country 4) I have no big money to spare.

2.Keep my site same as it is. Making money from amazon and staying as review site. Maybe getting a few articles / interviews from known people. Not doing big projects. Following the original plan to make this site work and then scale it up to another affiliate sites.

Update number #6

I have decided to still continue with my original plan, to keep it as niche site and make another ones if I get this one to work. In previous post I mentioned I got a lot of traffic, but guess what, not a single buy from amazon. 50 unique clicks, but not a single conversions. It is just another proof how social/ forum traffic ain`t really likely to convert.
Gotta focus on organic search and visitors who are looking to buy. But at least I am going to get some great backlinks thanks to the article. I have been outreaching whole day to different sites, I know that something like 10% conversion rates from them is considered to be really great. So 100 emails sent will hopefully result in best case scenario 10 backlinks.

Another update from serpbook rankings:

Update #7

Don`t worry I keep this posted until I meet my goal. It has been only 3 days ago that I made a last entry;)

I haven`t made a single sale despite of all time highest clicks to amazon. This just confirms the fact that quality of traffic is everything. Recently was my best day I got 40 unique click to amazon from reddit, facebook/twitter/google +, forums but not a single sale. A while back I got only 5 clicks, all from search engine visitors and boom...second sale, that I posted already.

Here are the amazon stats right now:

1z5m5wm.png

All these big traffic days have been came from social networks when I promoted my article there. Lately I have been doing a lot of e-mail outreaching and result was that I got 3 backlinks from other sites. Unfortunately my serpbook trial is over so I cannot post anymore ranking updates. Same with clicky trial, so now I am going to use google analytics.

I am being very patient with my website, but to be honest I am not happy at all with it right now. Organic traffic from google is only 3-5 clicks per day. Giving it a month more time and then starting web 2.0 and approaching linkbuilding more seriously.

Update Number #8

I haven`t posted anything for about a week now. I have done this deliberately because nothing special haven`t happened. Still stuck at 2 sales. Organic traffic 2-8 per day. No serpbook so I can`t post ranking updates.

New websites take time to rank and bring in traffic so nothing special here. I am already seem to rank 30-40 for most of my targeted keywords, but it just don`t reflect on organic traffic. Ranking 40 compared to 140 does not really mean anything except I am slowly climbing to the first page.

Looking back now I realize my niche selection was terrible. Yeah it is my little hobby and other competitors amazon sites sucked. I never would have though it would be a problem , but it turns out this product is just too popular. Which means frequent discussions in forums, youtube, social media groups make my site information less valuable + most of the buyers are not really computer persons and prefer going to actual shop for the item.

Still I am confident continuing with the project, it just takes longer and more effort than it would take with other niches. When I get to 100-200$ a month with this website, making even more with other niches would be much easier.
