I know BHW has some of the most resourceful and smart people in it, so I figured it'd be appropriate to ask for your guys' opinion.
So 2 years ago I bought a laptop from Best Buy and got the 3 year warranty with it. The guy said that it covered everything, and that I could come in with it cracked in half and they would replace it. I'm not sure how serious he was about this.
I've already used my warranty twice, because the thing is such a P.O.S. First, my harddrive completely died. I took it in, had it replaced. Then, the second time, the screen died. And now, the darn cord won't work so I can't even charge the battery (unless I bend the cord in a weird way). Let alone the fact that the battery only lasts for like 15 mins fully charged.
So i'm thinking about backing everything up on my laptop to my 80gb iPod and dropping the laptop out of a 2-story window, multiple times. Then bring it back in and say I dropped it and hope for a replacement.
Does anyone here work for Best Buy and know the inside scoop on what can be done here? I just wanna make my warranty worth while for myself, I paid $300 for it afterall. Would I get a brand new laptop?
