Over the past year, I have developed a web development and promotions "site" that I want to really go places with one day... (I call it a "site" because I wouldn't just yet call it a "company").
This is my "baby". All of the money that I make with my current methods (eBay, dropshipping, small-time web-design) has been to provide the money that I needed to make it by, while working toward my ultimate goal.

My site is EXTREMELY targeted. I have a large and incredibly close-knit target market that I do not intend to ever work outside of. For example, say it were "black business owners"... My goal would be to someday be endorsed by the AACC. So I have big goals.

Still, my site is only a year old. I get some traffic and i have a few clients that I more or less stumbled into. I am concidering my site "new". I don't really have much traffic and at the moment, none of the kind I want (potential clients). I have a few random back-links. My SEO is great, but only for my blog. I am not advertising. I am happy to hit 50 visitors/day. Yeah, I have not promoted it at all and it shows in the stats.
All of that is past. My site and business plan are fully developed. I KNOW WHAT I WANT. I am ready to go places now. I AM READY FOR CLIENTS!

My site is not an auto-blog. It is not one of a grouping that I "hope Google won't ban". It is a business site that I hope to build into something great. (I need clients to do that). What I am saying is...

What I am asking you all is: What is the best way (BH or WH) to get a LOT of traffic, really fast without jepordizing my company?

PS: If anyone would like to help me, I would love to turn this into a BHW journal for anyone who is interested to follow.

Free or paid? If you're prepared to pay PPC (Adwords / Yahoo / MSN) would be the quickest way.

Thankyou and I know of ways to get customers, such as PPC, ads and all of that, but I am thinking more in terms of something that would help me with actual SEO. I eventually want customers to FIND ME (for free).

I know that their are tools out there. I got IBP and it has helped a lot, but it seems it's only very effective on with my blog and not so much my site.

Yes I am willing to pay, but preferably for something that will help me in rankings.

Anything that would rank a Blog will work for a normal site. A Blog has the advantage of being liked by the search engines and has a great internal linking structure. Have you thought of adding a Blog to your existing site - creating great content and then ranking the Blog which will of course have links to your main site? You could place it in a folder under your main domain - just Google the best way to do it.

As for specifics just do a search for link building / SEO on Google and here as the basics of getting a site well ranked is well documented.

I have a blog on the site. It is "mysite/blog", so they are not at all seperate. There are links to pages within the site, promoting my service, but I'm not sure a link from one place on the site to another on the site is going to help a lot.
I am thinking that I am going to have to really focus on the blog to get a lot of people in the door though. It's working so far. The blog is very small and so is my traffic, but yeah, so far most of the traffic is coming to the blog.

I know and I am working on that. I was wondering about the feasbility of using black hat methods and if they would work, which ones are safe (enough).

I never use BH methods on my money (important) sites because I don't feel comfortable with it. I build slowly and have a fairly clean link profile and have never had a problem with Google. Others may tell you it's OK to use BH and maybe they're right you need to decide how much (if any) risk you're prepared to accept.

Chances are you could do anything (except what you link out to and rubbish content) and get great results all I can say is I only use BH on tier two / three sites.

This is the first method from BHW that I have implimented. It is surely safe and it seems like it should work. Below is the title of the post and how I am utilizing the method...

    1. This Is How I Increased My Traffic By 150%

I decided to utilize the first half of this method which in a nutshell, involves the widget "SEO SearchTerms Tagging 2 Plugin" and adding "popular search terms", "recent search terms", and "popular terms in category" to the website (the terms are set at 100 each and link to whatever page the serch led to) so that big G picks up on the keywords/links (even though they are all internal).
In my case, I added this to the blog section (sidebar) of my site because that is where most people come in. Also, the website itself looks like a normal commercial website without even the hint of a blog format and I want to keep it that way.
There was a part in there about how to get a bunch of traffic by utilizing misspelled words, but I am not sure how I would impliment without spamming the words on my site. (Help anyone?)

    2. Free 1k traffic to your site , geo-targeted , niche targeted

This is a service that "ahiddenman" is offering to BHW members for free (thread name __^). It's 1000 Geo and niche (mine is webdesign) targeted PPC visitors. Though the point of this thread is to build organic traffic (and this is not), this will be the most visitors I will have ever gotten in one month. (Again, I am just this month "launching"). It should have no bearing on my long term SEO endeavor, but the ultimate goal here is more visitors so I thought I would share. I will update you all and thatnks goes out to ahiddenman.
    ________________________________________________________________

This is a go. This is active and I will let everyone know how it works out.
Looking forward to utilizing the knowledge and services of other BHW members for sure!
