    Hello,

So, I'm doing something deceiving, like content locking but page never gets unlocked even after they complete the offer. I feel bad for this, and I will still be doing it because I need to earn money. My question is, what do you think of me. Do you do something similar?, Should I worry?

Blackhat SEO should be about finding loopholes and exploiting systems - it's about being clever and working the system. Content lockers that don't work aren't blackhat, they're just nothing.

Why don't they work? Is it just a rubbish network that doesn't flag completion or are you doing it on purpose? What's supposed to be in the content locker?

its the advertisers fault. the user completed the survey sh!t but the locker didn't unlocked because of some crappy script or they are deliberately doing it on purpose.

I'm pretty against deceiving my visitors in general. My take is that they're just average people like you and I, so why should I be taking advantage of them? If I can provide value and be compensated for that, that's fair. If I'm pretending that filling out a survey or whatever is going to get them to what they're looking for and it doesn't, I'm wasting their time and energy to get a few pennies. That doesn't sit well with me.

It's a little unclear why people lump together blackhat SEO (being unwilling to submit to Google's rules on how one should approach linkbuilding) and other sketchier activities (promoting questionably legal activities, outright scamming users, trying to fraudlently click on ads, etc.).

OP, it's not the worst thing you could do. It's not illegal, just annoying. I'm pretty sure 95% of viral content lockers are like this.

While I have to agree with you that a lot of stuff being discussed here is simple scamming, this is not blackhatseo.com it's blackhatworld.com ;)
I've read old users replying that in the early days before BHW became as popular as it is today there was a lot more black hat (without the SEO aspect) going on here than is tolerated nowadays.

I don't think of you. I'm just going to ignore your websites is all. I've found content lockers when searching for gray area software in the past, and just ignore them. I already know that I'm not going to "unlock" what they have promised

Unless you're creating something of value, you're not an entrepreneur, you're an opportunist. Make of it what you will.

If they finish just unlock it do your end of the contract, that is how I feel! No deception! Plus to me you are stupid if you don't because what, they will do it all for the 2nd time? Anyway it's wrong, how would you feel if the roles where reversed?

all this talk of deception reminds me of the time i saw someone asking for donations so they could complete an online video game that they actually had nothing to do with.

the game was "the stone of anamara" and it was split into two parts, but the second part wasn't released and probably never will be.

this clown hosted the game on his web site and then installed a paypal form asking for money so he could "finish the second chapter of the game."

i wonder if anyone fell for it...

Someone needs to codify some rules we should all uphold. Content lockers fuck me off simply because the few times I bothered to complete them, what was promised was not there. There are a lot of fuckers doing this, probably from this forum.

Well then. It's nice to see how far so many of you have come in the 8 or so years I've watched you grow.

OP - many of your respondents in this thread are talking out of both sides of their mouths, or failing to adequately disclose their "learning experiences" in IM. Don't do it forever, but everybody's gotta get paid.

To the rest of you - I remember when YOU were the badass around town, and I remember quite well when this town was the shadiest there was online - period(as it applies to methods of making money online).

Glad we cleaned it all up of course ... I just think it should be OK to reminisce sometimes.
