I am in need of some Blackhat ethics obliteration therapy. My mindset says that I don't want to do some spammy type of stuff like blog spamming, Xrumer etc. because you are causing a nuisance on a mass scale. Its like a huge anti-karma! But on the other hand it might give me more cash!

How do you guys deal with this inside of your head? Do you not give a damn about the hassle you cause others?

I'm hoping some of your replies will help me shed my limiting beliefs in this area. :)

    Jon

Ethics are often thrown onto the unwashed masses, in the same way as the new 'austerity' drive by governments is. The little people are expected to tow the line, while corporate bodies pretty much circumvent laws as they see fit.

When I get an ethical worry, I consider the US health system, which to my eyes looks like corporate sponsored manslaughter. If it's ok to refuse treatment to a sick person and in effect let them die, then I consider the vast majority of what you see on BHW to be 99.99% more ethical. That's just one example of business screwing with people, they are everywhere you look. The simple truth is that you don't get rich without standing on people along the way - it may be unpalatable, but it applies to almost all business.

Do a quick G search for "playing to win" and read part 1. It's directed at gamers, but I think it translates extremely well to this field.

    Play to win dude.

Did you mean the Sirlin article?

Any chance in what it says in one sentence?

It's only a few paragraphs, the majority of that page is the responses.

"The first step in becoming a top player is the realization that playing to win means doing whatever most increases your chances of winning. The game knows no rules of "honor" or of "cheapness." The game only knows winning and losing."

    @Jon12345:

Simple solution: If it bothers you, don't do it.

This dude is an idiot, he's the type that will beg to be spoonfed for every method or idea. He won't contribute anything to the forum, ever.

Look at his second post in this thread, "can you please sum up an article for me in one sentence because I'm too lazy to do anything for myself?"

People like this intolerant to spammers because of their morals should be banned just like spammers are banned because of others intolerance to ours.

You're on a ****ing forum where most if not all of it's money making methods revolve around spamming, go **** off somewhere else.

He is as entitled to ask questions as anyone else.

    No need to be hostile.

    :D

At the end of the day we all end up in that little hole in the ground with flies, worms and shit and then they forget all about your arse.

Look at that ****ing hitler bitch...

Very well said man. If you plan on having a lot of money you pretty much have to be a crook to some degree. It is that simple.

WizGizmo - yes, that is one solution, don't do it. But the whole point is that I would like to legitimise it to myself because it would have positive financial implications for me. I've been running ideas around in my head like any mailshot a company does takes up one unit of the recipients time, just like a spam blog post. Stuff like that. Its interesting to see how people deal with this in their heads.

likeskoolaid - you are just a prat.

You need to throw your ethics out the window if you want to succeed. Play by the rules is all you need to do. If blog spamming is illegal then don't do it, it's not, then game on.

I know email spamming is illegal, but link spamming...could they ever make that illegal? I don't see how. Yes, you are right. I should play to win as the earlier guy mentioned and that is exactly what I want to do. But I need a little more corrupting in the head! :D

    Legitimize to yourself?

You are asking: "What lies can I tell to myself, so that I can believe it?"

Wtf do you expect for an answer?

Anyway, ethics is only your interpretation of the cumulative stupidness of the persons and ideas you 've come in contact with since birth.

Read that 100 times. Understand it and you are almost there.

Since you have the urge to cross your line, what does that tell you? Simple. It means that you got the line too close and you need to move it a bit further away. It 's all in your head.

I wasn't asking for lies to myself, just reasons for why its ok to do some BH methods. For answers, I am looking for persuasion. We all have beliefs and they govern what we do. But they can be changeable when presented with new evidence. Don't be so defensive.

Indeed, values are all in your head and so the purpose of this post.

Spam is annoying. It 's a fact. How can I give you new evidence on that? That 's why I say you are looking for lies. You want someone to talk you into this, because you can't take the responsibility. You want someone to "persuade" you, because you are afraid you may take the wrong decision yourself.

No offense bro, but you need to grow up. I am not suggesting to do things you are not comfortable with, I am saying to face reality, accept personal responsibility and don't try to lie to yourself. In the end, money is nothing if your head is not working right.
