I got the "Blackbox" package from Blackbox RDP that is supposed to give me Quad Core 2.66Ghz Intel, 2GB Burstable Memory, 240 GB HD Space.

It was really fast for the first couple months, but has since slowed down to such a pathetic speed that even when I'm just running Senuke and NO other seo software it's so slow that it often crashes. It's so slow at times that you can't really even click buttons without freezing. Completely unacceptable! Bottom line, I need a new VPS cause this isn't workable for me.

So what VPS is going to actually be FAST for $40-something a month? I'd like something with a lot of CPU horse-power and a VPS that won't over-crowd their servers until my speeds slowly choke. Who do you guys recommend?

Looks pretty interesting, I like that it has i7 CPUs in there. Do you use them yourself? How's the speed on the "novice" rig?

I use them myself, yes, wouldn't recommend them otherwise. :)

Not using the novice rig though, so I can't tell. But I suspect it's at the very least up to par.

Heh, just checked, looks like I mistook the Novice plan for the Starter one. The dedicated 100mbps line is no bullshit, it's what I get for the Expert one. I assume it's all the same for all the plans where it's included.

If you've got one of their offshore/xrumer servers - they are having dc issues and told me the switch should be back to full pipe speed in a few hours (had the same problem)
if it's your vps itself that's slow/laggy.. it's not a network issue.. moreso probably virus/malware specific to your vps from running senuke so often. just ask for a reinstall and they'll do it free.

I've got several servers with them and can attest their service is high quality - just let them know and they'll get you fixed up in a flash. livechat is always on anytime i need something.

    cheers

What about blackbox? You seem to know a bit about them as well... andy idea why they've become so slow? Is it a virus problem as well, because when I emailed them the more or less denied that their servers were slow. And how would I word it to ask them if they've checked for virus on their servers?

    Thx

I am with Blackbox RDP, and thing were a little slow a few days ago, so I contacted support, and they had a look, restarted the server, and things seems to be right again. Do a speedtest.net result and send it to them and say you will move VPS providers unless they sort it out for you...I am sure they will help.

Yeah I'm going to need to just tell them like that.

I told them my RAM resources were not showing what I paid for already, but they claimed that it was burstable and I would get more if I needed it... yet I am dirt slow and I never get that burst. I wonder if they have throttled my CPU down and made it "burstable" too. VERY frusterating dealing with slow VPS and companies who don't seem to want to help :(

Is it slow CPU wise or network wise? Knowing the reason might help you. See what is the RAM/CPU usage when you are running your app and see what is going high. A restart or even n OS reload would solve your issues.

The RAM doesn't seem to go above 1gb out when apps are running but it is "burstable" though I technically get 2gb. I have never seen 2gb though to spite my use of Senuke.

The CPU is a bit tougher to gauge, as I can't tell if they are throttling it or not. But I have restarted the OS, swept for virus, and defragged.... and it still didn't help :(

Why'd you stop being happy after a year? :D
