I just wanted to post something that a lot of newbies might not know or might have forgotten about.
Hell, I'm sure many pro's may have forgotten this too.
I'm talking about SITE-MAPS!
Yes, you might have a Google XML site-map but are you also catering to Yahoo? Do you have a .txt version of your site-map?
Do you have an HTML version of your sitemap? Remember, these can be used by spiders as well as your visitors.
What about foreign Search Engines?
From my experience you need at the very least, 3 different version of your Sitemap minimum.
Don't forget that Google is not God and it has competitors and turning your back on other potential sources of traffic is insane, especially in a game where we're trying to make money off our traffic.
So this is just a reminder, find out exactly what type of Site-map each one of the major Search Engines around the world require and then make one.
I'd like to emphasize Search Engines AROUND THE WORLD!
It has been my experience that if you get one search engine (of respectable size and market-share) to give you a relatively high ranking, that is VERY likely to influence other search engines.
So just a word to the wise, keep up to date on your site-maps and if you've only been making the Google variety then start making the other varieties too.
