A Discussion about BLACK HAT SEO

So, im my very humble opinion, building backlinks and PR by things like:
  • Forum Posting
  • Blog Commenting
  • Autoblogging
  • Social website marketing (Twitter, FB etc)
are pretty grey hat seo techniques.

They involve the work of you (the marketer) to inflate the search engine rankings of your products, by adhering to yet stretching the search engine rules. BUT you are not really breaking the rules by producing a lot of backlinks - you might get *sandboxed*, but thats a search engine validity test.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BUT what are the down right dirty BLACK HAT SEO techniques?
Here is one : http://www.geocities.com/fuhtxqmhxag/index.html
So what is the point of the above site?
If anyone is interested i will be analysing the links, relationships and purpose of the above site, and trying to shed some light on why this www resource exists.
If anyone wants to add their two cents as to what flavour of black hat they think this is and how it leads to an increase in SEO! then this thread would hopefully give some info to the great BHW community.
well i have just written a external link checker to try find any EXTERNAL links from the above site - but Yahoo just killed me thinking I am DDOS...
I have found a good 500 pages in the same folder as hxxp://www.geocities.com/fuhtxqmhxag/
i will run my spider on another machine with some Thread.Sleep() in it :)
will report back.
oh, for some reason i was under the impression that this site belonged to you...
not that it matters i suppose... :)
na doesnt belong to me :) well still searching, 800 pages so far - all I want it one external link - otherwise?? I cant see one single point to having a #SITE# like this.
I'm baffled, I really don't know. I didn't dive deep into the HTML but I didn't see a single outgoing or external link. I'd love to see what other people think, interesting to say the least.
Yeah I thought it was a standard doorway at first but now I don't see the point of it. Surely all of those links are giving juice to something, somewhere?
Whatever it does it won't be there long.
GEOCITIES IS CLOSING ON OCTOBER 26, 2009.
New GeoCities accounts are no longer available.
Probably something thrown up with an automated tool that has since been abandoned. All pages start with a small amount of link juice even without any backlinks so if you had enough pages that only interlinked, you could build up some target pages with enough internal backlinks to rank for your keywords. Maybe that was the point or maybe the owner thought he could rank just by throwing up hundreds of junk pages.
Doesn't seem to work though, that page has no PR and a search for the user name only shows 2 pages in Google's index: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=fuhtxqmhxag&btnG=Google+Search&aq=f&oq=&aqi=
Ok, I've not really looked at the site in any detail so my opinion probably means zero. But, I've put sites up similar to that in the past...and it wasn't for backlinks. I'd do it to get the internal pages ranked...then once they were, I'd stick a JS redirect on each of the pages to an affiliate page. Old bait and switch.
Not saying that is the purpose of this site...but just saying that's what I used to do, so is possible this guy was doing same.
Regards,
secguy
