I just wasted almost an hour with "Lanie" who it turns out is in the Phillipines. I should have known by the 30-60 second lag in between questions and responses that "she" was translating (badly). Gave me scripted responses to medium-complex questions and after an hour her consistently maintained advice was the exact opposite of what I repeatedly asked for, and even though she said we could do it "my way" or a 3rd way, she couldn't tell me why her suggested way was better than either of the other two options. It was just her way, and she "couldn't assure" that the results would be what I wanted. But couldn't tell me why. I asked why. I asked why numerous times. Each time, after a 2 minute lag in responding to the "why" questions, the answer was that she "couldn't assure me" that the results would be desirable. Her way sounded much more risky, and would involve me having to spend an additional 3 hours or more rebuilding a Bing Local listing. I said all this. She never acknowledged the "down side", just kept repeating the same stupid suggestion of deleting an already-completed-to-perfection listing, and verifying a duplicate listing and then "transferring over" all the information from the 1st one before deleting it. Deleting the good one. Deleting the one I wanted. Deleting the one that had all my time in it. I kept asking why. But couldn't tell me why. I asked why. I asked why several times, but she didn't/couldn't/wouldn't answer. And when I pushed, she caved in and said we could do it "my way", but she couldn't "assure me" that the results would be desirable. No need to "cave"; how about instead you give me some credible-sounding reasons for why you want to do it the long, difficult, risky and stupid way instead of the easy, simple, risk-free way and maybe I'll agree, but no "Lanie" wanted the long, difficult and stupid way because (I suspect) that's what the idiot standing next to her was telling her to type after they conferred in whatever non-English language they use when they are not giving tediously lengthy, bad, stupid, risky and - did I mention tediously lengthy - advice. Finally I just lost it and terminated the text chat. (This was a better alternative, as I was getting ready to start dropping the "F-bomb".) But then I realized, there's my client with no Bing Local listing, and it's my job to get that thing, no matter how difficult. GRrrrrrr...... So I tried text chat again. "Onna" assured me that her 1st language was Engrish, and when I told her about the wasted time with her predecessor, she said she was "sorry to know that". I wasn't chatting with Onna for very long after that. An hour later I decided I was the stupid one. Not sure what the solution is, but entrusting my client's listing to the cooperative endeavors of a couple of retards is not the solution. Meanwhile, in another thread here on BHW, someone is asking "What's wrong with Yahoo?" the 2nd place, also-ran of Search Engines. Well here's what's wrong with Bing. Having non-English speaking Phillipinos interfacing via text chat (no voice option that I can find) with Local Businesses in order to get a 2nd-rate and ineffective business listing to be ignored by a 2nd-rate search engine. One greasy-thick layer of abject stupidity slathered on top of another. I find no option to contact Bing via voice. I have this notion that companies that do this to their customers pretty much deserve whatever consequences that might result. A public service idea, that might generate income, which is to post the names & phone numbers of corporate employees on forums like this one, so that they can be unwillingly drug into whatever breakdown in customer service that might occur. I don't need the number of anyone that is specifically involved in Bing Business Portal. Give me the number to the guy in the mailroom, or the assistant to the HR director. I'll make their life miserable until they do what I went.
