Do you really want to end up having to manage 200 mns?

why not both? I mean why put all money on one spot and risking loosing everything and not getting anything back from it

I bought 8 MNS and I can say 5 of them were misguided investment.

My suggestion is: buy 2-3 sites, choose the provider carefully, analyse the sites you receive.
Start learning everything like keyword research, onpage SEO, offpage SEO and build more sites. You can use the knowledge you gathered from the sites you bought. Do everything yourself (exception is content writing, as we are not native speakers). After having enough knowledge you can start outsourcing, not before that. You have to tell your workers what they have to do, if you want quality work. Also $500 are enough for a decent start, try to invest the other amount in something else.

After being successful with MNS you can start building big, authority sites.

I don't regret starting with MNS, cause I got so much knowledge about different aspects, that I can use now for my other projects. I do regret buying so many MNS instead of building them myself.

It's better you focus on building a high authority site from the scratch. If you're very keen on MNS, go ahead and invest a fraction of $1000 not the entire money.

Dumping your entire budget only on MNS is a great way to lose your investment to something due to something silly such as getting marked as MFA by Adsense.

Split it up. Invest some money in a small authority site, a MNS or two, SEO tools, and even invest some in outsourcing some of the work for these sites, notably content creation.
