Coming from a wal-mart report. Passed on to me from a friend.

This tip was verified by the Rogers ,AR. police dept as a common scam over the holidays when cars are full of purchases. One of the groups here just had a safety meeting with a rep from the police dept. Thought you might like to pass this on.
Warning..!!!! Warning...!!!! Warning.!!!!

Just last weekend on Friday night we parked in a public

parking area. As we drove away I noticed a sticker on the

rear window of the car. When I took it off after I got home,

it was a receipt for gas. Luckily my friend told me not to
stop as it could be someone waiting for me to get out of the

car Then we received this email yesterday:

'WARNING FROM POLICE
THIS APPLIES TO BOTH WOMEN AND MEN

BEWARE OF PAPER ON THE BACK WINDOW OF YOUR VEHICLE--

NEW WAY TO DO

CARJACKINGS (NOT A JOKE)'

Heads up everyone! Please, keep this circulating... You walk

across the parking lot, unlock your car and get inside. You

start the engine and shift into Reverse.

When you look into the rearview mirror to back out of your

parking space, you notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle

of the rear window. So, you shift into Park, unlock your

doors, and jump out of your car to remove that paper (or

whatever it is) that is obstructing your view. When you reach

the back of your car, that is when the carjackers appear out

of nowhere, jump into your car and take off. They practically

mow you down as they speed off in your car.

And guess what, ladies? I bet your purse is still in the car.

So now the carjacker has your car, your home address, your

money, and your keys. Your home and your whole identity are

now compromised!

BEWARE OF THIS NEW SCHEME THAT IS NOW BEING USED.

If you see a piece of paper stuck to your back window, just

drive away. Remove the paper later. And be thankful that you

read this e-mail. I hope you will forward this to friends and

family, especially to women. A purse contains all kinds of

personal information and identification documents, and you

certainly do NOT want this to fall into the wrong hands.

Thought I might share this with everyone to be safe while finishing up your holiday shopping and what not, could happen anywhere really.

Restauraunt, malls, bars, big parties etc.

Be safe and Merry Christmas!

woww. thanks for that one man...ill be sure to follow your advice. although if someone tried to jack my ride, id kongfu their asses.lol:D

@jagged55 -No offense, but I don't see where you got a chain letter outa this one, I know it said forward to friends and family, but it's not asking you to go to some crap site or any other chain letter action, it's more like a "hey watch your ace while your shopping or out and about"

More or less, given a heads up on the latest way to get jacked this season.

My wife was the first one I told.

My greatest regret would be to know this info, and not share it with others who love and care about their families. Especially when you can't always be there to protect them.

Anyway, take it how you want.

Not that they are the bible but I took 30 seconds to go here:

Code:
http://www.snopes.com/crime/warnings/carjack.asp

Anyone who gets a shit load of emails can spot a chain letter a mile away with the "Warning..!!!! Warning...!!!! Warning.!!!! " and "no joke" and "send it to everyone you know". These are sent out with the best intentions but when you get 25 of them every day from your email list, it starts to get to you.

Besides, there are easier methods to jack a car than this ;)

I heard this bullshit by email like 10 years ago. I guess it has resurfaced and scared enough people to have the BS debunked on Snopes.com because here it is:

Code:
http://www.snopes.com/crime/warnings/carjack.asp

I have some oceanfront property for sale in Arizona. Hurry! It's prime land and only a cool 2million bucks!

It may just be me but I hate chain letters with a passion!

Wonder if you were a victim today how much you'd hate this post when you come on here with no car to drive. I hate when people complain for no reason.

Snopes is turning into Wikipedia, full of bullshit :) - just because it DOESN'T happen doesn't mean it cannot happen. Their job is to debunk the logic and facts of something, the letter never said the crime is nationally wide-spread, maybe this isn't a well-known method for carjackers, but I could certainly see myself, my mother, YOU (without knowing about this at all), and almost every human...falling for this. They should never do that BS, how can they post something like that and call if false? What if a widespread attack occurs using this method, and then they'll have to change it to true? That makes no fucking sense, something is either true or false. There are several analogies that I could make, but common fucking sense.

edit - It appears it's an inconsistency (generalization, the assumption that it must be widespread for it to be possible) on Snope's part, one of many, this is why I wonder why people use this bullshit as an authoritative source of confirmation, they lack common sense and maths.

Yah, I get the same crap all the time.

Just thought some folks could use the heads up. Without seeing this, I would have probably been one of the ones to grab that piece of paper taped to my back windshield.

Not that I'm an idiot, just an inocent mistake on my part. I mean, your first instinct would be to see what the heck it is.

Anyway, be careful. Merry Christmas!

Lol...ok man, I will post some emails I get in the money making section and direct you to them. That way, you won't miss out on your next million when a Nigerian prince in exile needs a new bank account to filter his money into.

A scam and a warning are two different things, I hate chain letters too but the OP brought something useful that he learnt. It's not like the OP's copying and pasting random chainletters here for you to read. Common Sense now ;)

Listen, you have said a lot here Nirvana and I will take it with a grain of salt because I don't want to get involved in your little flame war here. To me, creating fear in people is a scam in itself. And to flame me repeatedly and then turn around and accuse me of not using "common sense", I would have to question your age/life experience....especially when it comes to being a victim of crime.

Just so we're clear, the reason I complained was because of the title of the post and the content of it. I don't want the lounge or any other place turning into place where we have to view chain letters.

I guess I will start taping flyers with my URLs on them on the back windows of cars at Walmart this week...they'll get lots of attention! :)

Yeah I still have friends that I used to work with who send me every chain letter under the sun - the worst part is they still buy into the fear despite the fact that hte claims made are so outrageous.

Wow, how quickly these things can become twisted up into something it's not.

Here's the thing, I didn't post this with intent for you to forward to friends and family.

Yes, I can spot a chain letter a mile away, but I thought it was a worthwhile warning to anyone that's never heard of it. Not everyone keeps up with the latest chains and this is not your long lost Great uncle Eskebar from the oil fields of nigeria who needs you to put some money in a bank account in the states with your cut being 2.3 million.

The deal was "Watch the F*%$ out, and forget that peice of paper taped to the back of your windsheild"

Plain and simple.

If you took it any other way, well sorry, I just hope you don't get that phone call sayin one of your friends or family was jacked with a peice of paper and tape.

I guess I shouldn't drive because I may get into an accident, I guess I shouldn't fly because the plane might crash! Tell us how it converts BTW. :p - I just wish that your family members and friends are not targeted by this in anyway, lol... some people work up a storm over the simplest of things, when it was originally done to help/protect them. If someone dearest to you is targeted then I'm sure you'd be embarrassed enough not to tell us, after the storm you've summoned, maybe not today, tomorrow, or in 5 years... but this is simply an ingenious method of carjacking. :p - I'm "checking out".

P.S. - If the staff found something spammy or inappropriate about this thread it wouldn't be here by now ;)

From your initial post...I hope you will forward this to friends and family, especially to women.

As stated by me Jay, I know it was sent with the best intentions. But as you read in my later reply, I personally don't want to see chain letters here on BHW because I get enough of them via my inbox. Just my opinion.

@Nirvana - Your P.S says a lot about your age and character. You bring up the staff like it's suppose to insult me or something. The simple fact is that if I had white lettering in my name instead of blue you probably wouldn't even have jumped into this thread. And if you did, you certainly wouldn't have flamed me the way you did.

Lol that's not true, my point is, it's an ingenious method of carjacking... I don't see why it wouldn't pwn me for that matter... I don't care (me, not you... I'm not trying to insult either)... whether it came from my ass or a chain letter, I'm just glad I know it before pre-Bubba does... trust me, people DO steal cars, people WOULD try this, and by common sense, they WILL succeed with an uninformed citizen, or two. My note about the staff is meant because of your attitude, that the OP is posting something spammy or something that will actually kill you. I'm not "flaming" you at all. You're more focused on the color font of usernames than the dicussion I guess.

Well I agree with your point on not wanting to see chain letters on BHW period.

The purpose "once again" was to give a heads up, not to stir any wild b.s. controversy over the history of chain letters, how their used and the like.

Much like any other post on here like "latest word on downfall of economy, watch out for google, craigslist is cracking down on bla, bla, facebook suing such and such, watch out for epn doing this and that etc."

I guess that would be considered "spreading fear" as well then.

Point is, I'm not a fear monger, on pins and needles with fear of every little crap I see on the web, nor am I a fear spreading advocate.

It's freakin christmas, people are still shopping and crime is still present everyday of the year, "BUT" especially around the holidays.

So hey, if you didn't know about this clever way of being carjacked then now you do.
That was my only purpose.

But, your opinion is no less important than mine, and everyone's perspective is relative.

And opinions are like a$%holes, everyone's got em.

Last but not least, you know what they say when you "assume" something, it makes an "ass out of U and me"

Anway, Merry Christmas - and try not to make this into something else. I still love ya just the same.

keep passing it on to all you know but first put a link to your CPA/Adsense filled website at the top of the email and say check here for the full news story or whatever you can think of and then put a spoof site up - i dunno it might drive some traffic and earn some $$$... and um your not really spamming either.... :)
