So I have a big dilemma.

Without giving too much away about the service, a guy paid me $179 to provide this service for him which I duly did, and 2 days later he tries to claim his money back via Paypal.

I told him to go whistle so he's filed a charge back via his credit card company.

I'm a bit pissed off with him.

During the course of me providing said service he for some bizarre reason sent me some pornographic images of some slut he wants to hook up with, and screenshots of his seedy communications with her describing what he'd like to do to her, so....

I have now after researching him discovered he's married to a high school teacher at a school where he works as the maintenance guy, and I've also managed to find her email address, so.....

    Would you?

I'm debating sending him an email asking him politely to do the right thing, and if he doesn't then forwarding his email to his wife.

Is that a bit OTT or does the scamming swine deserve it?

    Opinions gratefully accepted :)

Note - I've just read that back and it sounds really odd - just to clarify he's in the US & I'm in the UK and it was a service that was help with something, I didn't provide him with a "service" if you get what I mean - LoL.

Isn't it a form of blackmailing?

I wouldn't reccomend you to do that, i think you should sort the issue of chargeback in the more professional manner instead.

Blackmailing might work, BUT it is not really ethical and illegal at the same time.

    Just my 2cent.

I guess it's blackmailing if I say "pay me or I'll tell your wife" but what if I just say "please pay me" and if he doesn't then I email his wife?

Get contact info to his wife, email them to him and ask him "do you really want to go down this road?"
Proceed to light up a cigar, put your legs up on your handcrafted Manchester Champion desk and gently stroke your rare Serbian white lion while sipping on your finest brandy, grinning.

Fighting fraud with blackmail isn't a good idea, you should go through the proper channels.

Okay forget the money so there's no question of blackmail - let's write that off and not even mention it to him or even talk to him again.

Just in terms of revenge would you forward his email to his wife or is it too severe?

That is a very good way of revenge but before you do, i want to remind you the following:
    1. you might destroy life of a woman
    2. you might lead to suicidal
    3. you might completely destroy a happy family.
    4. you might ruin a life of their child.
etc and etc, i can go on and on.

1 more thing is that, if you succeeded, he will come back and revenge on you, so this circle will go on and on.

what is the point mate? spend your precious time on something useful and move on. There are plently of fishes in the sea, no point of trying to catch an escaped fish.

I'd totally do it, just for the revenge factor. But be careful, because it does seem to me like a trap for you to blackmail him, or to accuse you of it even if you don't. I mean, why would he even send that kind of stuff to some stranger on the other side of the world he knew he was going to defraud? Very fishy situation.

Sounds like both of you need to grow up. The guy isn't happy with your service and you told him to "whistle" and now you're pissed he filed a dispute and you want revenge? Yeah you both need to grow up.

have to agree, just handle it through the proper channels, dust off your hands, and move on. people who act like him ALWAYS screw themselves over eventually, he'll get what's coming. don't let him waste any more of your time

You can't stop a crime with a crime.

You don't want NSA to stop the terrorist by bugging your communication. Don't do that to others.

But, it may be a trap too.
No man in his right mind will send up seedy things involving illicit sexual activities to some random Internet seller. If you are his friend, maybe he will share. But if you are not his friend? I don't think so.

LoL - it is all very bizarre, I have no idea what made him decide to send them to me, he is easily trackable on the net, has no kids and has been married for a long time.

Personally I wouldn't be telling anyone if I was looking for casual hook ups, but the thing is that this girl he's besotted with (if that's who he's actually been talking to) is just some web cam slut, the images he has of her are images that anyone could have screengrabbed and then use them for a fake persona.

Why he also sent me the screengrabs of his conversations with her are beyond surreal, would you send details of your seedy sex talk to a total stranger, or to anyone for that matter?

It is all very strange, he's either a few slices short of a loaf or it is like a trap, but I can't see that he's obviously as dumb as a rock.

I think I'll just have some fun and make him sweat a bit.

Not blackmail, but revenge. Anyway, that's just my opinion, feel free to disagree.

The service takes time to take effect, he knew this. He waited til 2 days after I'd done it all just to make sure I'd done it all and then claimed I hadn't done it, then filed a charge back.

So it isn't that he's unhappy with the service, it's that he wanted it for free.

What if the guy is not who you think he is? Maybe it's all a setup for you to do the dirty work for him.

Sometimes better to refund than get your account cancelled
