I know that there are many of you here that have been suspended from ebay due to VERO, and everyone agrees the program is flawed. Your listings are removed without warning, without recourse and eventually after so many strikes you're suspended and are forced to go the ghost route in order to maintain your livelihood and employees salaries.

I am happy to say I had a very meaningful conversation with my ebay manager yesterday. He admitted that there are huge holes in the program and has been a hot button for many years from sellers and the ebay managers that represent them. We spoke in length about the issues of the program and I gave my simple suggestion for a quick fix to the problem. He thought it was brilliant and wondered why it hasn't been brought up previously. So he had me draft an email, which I did this morning, and he thinks it has a good chance to get in front of the eyes of decision makers and potentially the CEO. He said if anyone is going to have an impact it will be you, I have been growing my store exponentially lately and have just reached a very large listing mark last week so there are a lot of eyes on my account right now. Unfortunately, I told him I am scared to death to add any more because of VERO. At any moment some VERO member can come and remove my listings for "infringement" that I otherwise would have never known existed. This is a HUGE problem! How in the world can you grow a business and get banned for something you had no idea you were doing wrong in the first place? I know there are some of you here that counterfeit... this thread is not for you and this fix will not help you. This is for those of us who legitimately want to grow a business without fear.

He cited the entire premise of the program is to keep eBay out of member to member infringements. They were in a few large lawsuits early on which caused them to create this program in the first place. But as it turns out, it has actually caused more work on the side of ebay to "stay out" than to not do anything at all (see Amazon). I clearly pointed out how many millions in revenue eBay is missing out on, due to this dumb policy, from legitimate business owners trying to make a living who get banned.

So what was my suggestion? Simple as this. Give us sellers at least 24hour notice to correct any listings that a VERO member flags. That's it. If a VERO rights owner wants to remove a listing, have us adhere to MAP pricing, force us to sign up to be an "Authorized Dealer", or whatever the case is; they are forced to send an email notification first and give the seller an opportunity to revise or remove the listing. 90% of sellers would happily comply. I stated that even in the real world of business Lawyers send out multiple "cease and desist" letters prior to taking any action. Why not extend this courtesy to ebay sellers? I pointed out some examples in the past where ebay made adjustments to revamping the open case policy where a buyer must contact the seller before a case is opened... why not apply this to VERO?

I am hoping for the best here, I think VERO is primed for change so we will see what happens!

Sorry man but it won't happen. Why? Because it makes sense. Common sense and eBay never mix well.

"my ebay manager yesterday" - what kind of "manager" is that guy? Or like PP - just a personal account manager (where all volume members have), like a direct phone (private) contact to them that is dealing with your PP/eB issues all the time, without phoning the regular contact phones.

This need to be reported higher in their departments to chiefs and so on. Good news will be NOT only for VERO items minimum 24 hours cooldown before listing(s) takedown, but for other type of violations as well (Copyright, Trademark, Duplicate, etc.).

Boom! Just heard back from my manager. VERO just approved a new policy. 48 Hour notice is now in place for VERO violations. Happy Selling!

I just got veroed. My listing disappeared and I didn't get an e-mail. So I called ebay and they said the listing was violating copyright policy. I was selling a pair of used levi jeans. Told I couldn't use levis in my title. Go figure. I don't think the policy changed or if it did, they just take down your listing without even an email to inform you.

That is incredible news. My real account got banned last year because of vero BS, and I would love to see a policy change. Thank you so much for your contribution :)

Indeed its a good thing. AT least we have some sort of "warning" before we actually get VEROED. Thanks for suggesting the change!

Your post is an offtopic. Here the OP is mentioning about a new policy that might come some day (source: "his manager", whoever is that) where you'll receive a notification/e-mail regarding futher takedown of your listing(s) NOT directly removing them and MC999ing you. In these 48 hours you'll make everything, including ending your own listings by yourself, in order to save from the official red flag/card.

The OP said the new policy was approved:

I'm saying my listings were taken down without ANY 48 hour notice. They were taken down, and THEN a MC999 email was sent. That "new policy" doesn't seem to be in place. And there is no mention of it on eBay.

The policy is in fact in place. I have received numerous warnings already. I will paste the email below that you get from ebay. Also, you need to make sure not to just "end" your listing as you will still get hit with a violation. If you plan on ending the listing, first revise whatever copyright you are infringing on whether it be an image or description or whatever the violation is. Ebay still considers it a violation because ended listings are still searchable for a period of time.

    Example email:

MC999 Your eBay listing needs to be revised - Copyright Violation - Unauthorized Text

    Hello (seller id),
We've been notified by (company), LLC that 1 or more listings on your account are allegedly infringing on their intellectual property rights. A list of these items is available further down in this email.

If you revise your listings, you can avoid their removal. If you don't remove the allegedly infringing content within 2 days of the date of this email (excluding weekends and holidays), we'll have to take appropriate action on the listings.

Your listing was reviewed after the rights owner notified us that your listing used their copyrighted text without permission.

We encourage you to write your own description when listing your item. This helps potential buyers better understand what they are purchasing and helps to avoid any confusion after the transaction is complete.
