Not sure whether to laugh or to cry. As you probably know LiveJournal is very popular in Russia. All the media-stars are sitting there, and this is where they are spanked as well. Today someone revealed how a media company of Tina Kandelaki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tina_Kandelaki) promotes the official Kremlin and some of the large Russian companies in Youtube and Twitter. With Youtube nothing new, bots do the work. And since they are not the brightest black hatters in the world its easy to spot their bots activity (for example by testing the number of comments relative to number of likes, these are not natural). Otherwise, they use the "boobs trick" to lure interactive users to their videos. For example, they post a comment with a link, claiming that the boobs can be found there. Users that click on the link eventually land on the video and leave a disappointed responses. Something like: "bastards, there are no boobs here". When it comes to twitter, fake followers is a standard course of action. For example, they probably own the twitter farm at followmachine.ru (its down since the news hit the media), where you join to gain followers and as "payment" agree to let them control your account. First thing they do is make you autofollow the most important people in the network, then tweet from your account to promote hashtags. Now the most funny moment, guess who are those most important people in the network? Yep, its the official Kremlin, premier minister and Tina Kandelaki. Here is a screenshot made by the author of the original post - these are the people he autofollowed right upon joining: The original story is here: http://ruslanleviev.livejournal.com/26303.html http://ruslanleviev.livejournal.com/26493.html Unfortunately its written in Russian. But hopefully tomorrow major media agencies will translate it.
