So I have been concentrating heavily on Local SEO, mobile marketing, and social media ad campaigns.
I live comfortably and provide just fine for myself, family, and employees. While I am no "John Chow"
online, business has been growing at a rate I did not even expect.

One thing I said to myself is no matter how far I go up I will not forget where I came from and try to
uplift those trapped in a cycle of despair. I have a buddy locally that owns a store right on a main road
who let me put up a professional metal sign offering my services. Client growth has been amazing.

After all of that I was inspired by some friends to start this charity campaign "Clothe the cold this winter"....

    4JpelVT.jpg

Nothing major but I am collecting and buying warm boots, hoodies/coats, blankets, and socks for
the homeless or working class families that simply have to choose between warm clothes or the
phone bill. Best part is I pitched this idea to some of my local ma and pa clients. Most of them
welcomed the idea and now have banners on their locally ranked websites asking people to donate
    old clothes or new alike.

Its a win/win because it offers an opportunity for my clients to showcase their local businesses in a
good light while providing for those who need it. Thought about paying for FB ads targeting my local
area with a form for people to sign up in order to receive assistance. Kind of like a qualification application
    that we could review.

So I am reaching out to my B-Hat brothers to give me any ideas to help this gain even more traction
for this winter, and heck if you feel like it maybe you can do this for your local community. :)

    Cheers!
    -RK

Edit: I am not asking for money, clothes, or anything else so this is not a charity drive here. Just ideas!

    Pretty cool idea bro!

I remember last year around this time I did something similar with my brothers though it was just giving away toys to people for christmas and not exactly giving clothes away. (My income one year ago was almost nothing so I couldn't give much) I opened a thread kinda similar to yours but it got deleted by mods as donations weren't allowed in bhw...

Hope this thread doesn't get closed as mine did but perhaps you could incentivize it by making a contest and the one that gives the more clothes, wins something.

    Just an opinion bro.

    Hope it goes well bro!

Thanks man! I am not asking for money or any tangible help here so it should be within the rules.
Just to be on the safe side I edited the original post to reflect that strongly. :)

As you or anyone else that has me as a friend on fb from bhw seen a few days ago I already did something similar, I donated money to a friend of mine who then bought 100s of pairs of socks, hats, scarfs and gloves, they where then handed out to the homeless and street drinkers around my local city as it gets very cold here this time of year..

Never forget where you come from and always stay humble.

Wow thats a really cool thing to do. Its always good to think about those less fortunate than us.

As for ideas, don't know if/where its feasible, but if you could find a public location to put a "clothes bin" where people could drop in warm clothes that they don't need, that would be pretty cool.

I have been wanting to do some form of charity and actuallyt0mmy was the very friend where I
got the source for this idea from. I thought it was cool as shit but I am not the person to let out
any personal information found on FB Tommy so I didn't mention names. :)

@David - Heck yeah! Why didn't I think about that...I have several contacts with stores that
would allow such a thing. Thanks man.

This is amazing , the world needs more people like you man. Every Christmas my family and I go to the poor parts in the area and give out food and hampers. The amount of people that come will shock you, at the end its the smiles and happiness that really make this worthwhile. I feel good inside!

I'd say continue with what you're doing, it will surely make an impact :)

Yeah always good to pay it forward, a bhw charity of some sorts might be an even better idea if done right I'm sure it'd be huge I've seen several threads here over the years where we pulled together even helped some tigers! And no worries I have most of the regulars here on fb, I do deny a lot of random people all the time though lol.

Thank you! I really like your idea with food and thought about gathering soup cans. If you are down
on your luck it sure is nice to get a bit of food, some warm clothes, and hope really. :)

My reply to you will be bundled in with Tommy's...:)

I agree that an official charity would be great, however an exception would have to be made
for the charity and then be approved from my understanding which I am down for if that was
ever organized. I'm old school as shit Tommy and don't say anything about anyone unless I
know their cool with it. Goes against my grain! :D

My FB has also been interwoven with friends I have met here. Really its nice when you put a face
to the username and actually know people you do business with.

Not a bad idea though to get Schools involved but all of my connections
    are generally business related.

Yes canned food is good , If i make some money soon then I'm thinking about going to an orphanage and handing out toys and spending time with the kids. My biggest project ( hopefully one day) is too take the kids who don't have much to a theme park where there are pools and stuff. I know many of them haven't been in one. Its pricey and the worst thing is the people who do have the money wont consider it, so thinking of doing it myself. Its a blessing really :)

I would assume you could easily get this picked up on the news or on the paper locally between now and Xmas. Not a PR, but like really appearing in a story.

RIGHT NOW, you need to sit down and write a human interest story, with a few pics, and send it to every paper, radio show, local mags, and all the popular blogs in your area. Thse are used for filler material by many of these entities.

You should put a page on your site announcing the effort, and have people link to that page for more information. Leave this page up after the event, as you will likely get local backlinks that will be solid gold.

You should put out a press release too,a real one.

A noble gesture mate. There are a select few who take interest in providing assistance for the homeless, myself included. There is
-facebook marketing, paying for the ad space.
-You can take your donations to a shelter (for everyone not just RK).
-You could post craigslist ads in your city and the cities in your surround areas with the same text as in this post.
-You can always start a kickstarter to buy the homeless new clothes/food.
-Offer a service on fiverr and insert in the title (all proceeds are donated to the homeless)
-Create a donation website (two pages, one with donation button and options, the other with information about the homeless) then print out the URL on paper and plaster it around your town/the surrounding towns.

These are just a few ideas. I have been to several shelters in my day to donate clothes and canned food directly to the homeless. I applaud your generosity in creating this thread (I was a homeless teen).

    Alright bro!

I remember I opened the thread about a year ago and remembeer it was taken down by Wiz or Jazzc (don't remember). Pmed them and told me donations weren't allowed here in bhw.

So they told me to ask DD and he told me donations would only be allowed if I was using a registered charity site.

I ended up doing it with my brothers though I think it would have been way bigger if it was done with bhw ;)

Anyway, Here's the PM and the thread basically:

That is great, nice idea of giving back.

I myself use my SEO skills to rank websites that draw attention to important issues. I run these websites as a virtual charity service. I don't try to monetize the traffic at all. I've put adsense on them just to make them "look" nicer and less empty in the sidebars (and it actually generates enough crappy clicks to pay for the web hosting and domain registration, hilariously enough) but I find this is a super valuable way of using my skills for actual good. So, idea out there for anyone wishing to give back.
