Just curious about how many people here own firearms and actively carry them.

    What do you carry?

    Why do you carry?

Ever had to draw or discharge your weapon?

I myself carry a Springfield XD-9 and just started carrying a couple months ago. I hope to never have to use it other than at the range. I live in Florida, so I've gone through my training/application and got my concealed weapon permit. I carry because I'd like to be prepared just in case shit goes down and I need to defend myself, loved ones or other innocent people.

    Type Pistol
    Action Double Action
    Caliber 9 mm
    Barrel Length 4"
    Capacity 15+1
    Safety Grip
    Grips Checkered Polymer
    Sights Dovetail front/3-Dot rear
    Weight 25 oz
    Finish Black

I don't have a CCW yet (working weird hours makes it hard to do normal business hour kind of things) but I really need to get around to it. I would probably buy a different gun if I had a CCW, as none of mine are really suitable for carrying: I have a Taurus PT92, which is a little larger than can be carried comfortably. And when I went to the gun store with the specific purpose of buying a concealed carry gun, I got distracted and ended up buying a gargantuan Ruger GP100 instead! :p

But yes, I will start carrying as soon as I can find time to take the CCW class. I already have tons of guns for my home (AK-47, Sterling 9mm Carbine, Mossberg 500) so why shouldn't I defend myself outside the home too? The way I see it, it's better to have that gun sitting in my waistband doing nothing, than end up in a dangerous situation and not be able to defend myself.

Yes I do. Krav Maga can't help me when I have to deal with more than 3 persons. I don't like it either to use it but... better to have it and not need it than need it and don't have it.

I had lessons and years of practice of Krav Maga and it's the best for self-defense 1 on 1 but carrying a gun is needed in these days, especially when you go to new places for the first time where you don't know who waits for you.

i have a couple of guns, two 357's 1 snub nose and 1 long barrel.
    Glock .40
    Assualt Shot Gun

yes i have discharge my gun before out defense

I keep my 357 loaded on my side of the bed. I live in a very nice upscale neighborhood but you never know what can happen

    Extra protection includes 2 rottweilers

Its rare for my to carry my gun mostly on long trips but never around town, i have had a guy pull a gun on me over a female, i put him in intensive care for four days for that, when he pulled it he was shaking like crazy i just laughed and kept walking towards him and once close enough i beat the brakes off of him.

You are not allowed to carry firearms in Sweden at all, you are not allowed to defend yourself you have to get beaten up and robbed then file a police report which might take them 1-5 years to catch the offenders, often forgotten. And If you do, you're a criminal and you should be convicted for security threat for 10 years.

It's interesting to hear that, because here in America, the anti-gun crowd always go on and on about how "other countries don't want concealed carry because they know it causes crime!"

I guess politicians were lying to us. Surprise!

I'd like to see some pics if anyone is willing to share?

I used stock photos of mine since it's just a standard 9mm.

I carry a baton too at night when walking the dog. I'd rather have a non-lethal option on me too.

Personal opinion, but I wouldn't feel comfortable living in a country that allows carrying a firearm. I know 99% of the time everyone uses it responsibly and is safe, but there has to be that 1% when something goes wrong, be it a mistake or moment of rage where real danger can occur from someone carrying.

Not a dig at anyone who chooses to carry one, as I know a lot of people are responsible and safe; just my opinion :)

I would get gun to shoot in range.

I cant imagine how hard it would be to shoot at people, but if i need to protect someone im sure i would fire the gun...

I don't own a gun and have never been in a position where I felt like I might need to use one, despite living in a large metropolitan area in the US.

I am just curious about some of the people's weapons and their legality. Is a sawed off shotgun not illegal? How about hollow points? The hollow points seem a lot less about protection and more about inflicting damage.

Every state in the US has different laws, but hollow points are legal. I shot 100 rounds of them yesterday at the range. It's ammo like dragon breath and such there's outlaws on. But again, up to the state in question.
