This is Matt and his beautiful wife, Danielle. Matt is one of the kindest, funniest people I have ever known. He and Danielle were going about their normal lives completely unaware of the ticking time bomb that resided in her brain. Last Wednesday, it exploded. I know we all have troubles, but seldom are we prepared for such a thing. Danielle suffered a cerebral arteriovenous malformation (AVM) rupture. She was immediately taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals where she underwent neurosurgery to relieve pressure on her brain. In second surgery, the artery that fed blood to the AVM was successfully stopped and Danielle has since minimally responded to commands to move her feet and hands and eyes. It will be a lengthy recovery process, but they are very optimistic that Danielle?s condition will continue to improve. It will be a long, difficult, and expensive road, but there is no doubt in my mind that she?ll make it and come out stronger. A lot of people have come forward offering support in many ways and asked how they could help, and you can also help by checking this Pledgie page here: Code: http://pledgie.com/campaigns/19185 The thing is, the need is more than just immediate. This is going to be a long haul recovery and while being reminded over and over again of the need and posting and reblobbing links to the pledgie helps, it is hard to sustain interest in the long term. I want to figure out a way to remind people to help with what they can, when they can for the long haul. Even if it is a dollar here and there. It doesn't matter if you know Matt and/or Danielle or even if you are in a generous mood and would like to help, hit me up with some ideas how to sustain reminders for the long haul. This is nothing official yet. I?m spitballing here, and I feel we are the smartest, most creative people I know here on BHW. I was just told Mark Hoppus donated a guitar for us to auction so that will help. Again if you can help, the Pledgie page is here: Code: http://pledgie.com/campaigns/19185 Please spread the word RESPONSIBLY, we don't need the Pledgie getting shut down. Also shoot me ideas for the long-term. I really appreciate any help for Matt and Danielle. I know this isn't the normal posts I make, but it's important to me, so thank you in advance!
