Sellers, don't ask for your buyer to send PayPal money as "friends and family".

Buyers, don't send PayPal money to people who are not your friend or your family as "friends and family".

Please realize that, in the majority of cases, sellers save a few dollars on fees, but guess what? In return, the buyer loses the option to dispute a transaction.

Just look at these few examples of shitlists.

Want to know how I avoid this? I like sales threads that lead me to a form. Once I fill out the form and place an order, I immediately email the seller to get some more information from them. No form to fill, just an email or PM option? I pay via Goods and Services and toss in an extra few dollars to cover any associated fees on the sellers' end.

Never had a fucking problem. Every time I've needed to dispute, I have been able to. This has saved me a few times.

    Get smart. Fuuuuck.

    Agree completely.

As far as I can tell, some sellers prefer "friends and family" because sending money otherwise can alert PayPal to the fact that it is a business transaction and therefore might incur tax (which PayPal might have to disclose to tax authorities in certain countries just as banks do).

I can see the frustration in your post there.

I feel it too! I read the shitlist threads daily and there is always one popping up where someone has paid for a business service but sent the money as a gift!!!

Ludicrous is the only word that springs to mind. You do NOT pay for a business transaction by sending money as a 'Friends/Family' payment. If the seller doesn't like it, TOUGH SHIT, either accept the money on my terms and accept the associated fees that come with it or GTFO because I will find someone else who will accept my money!

I think most of the sellers have a form bundled with their thread but yes a good thought for safety.

And think twice before you deal with newbie members (especially newbie sellers) who signed up a couple days or weeks ago. The lack or Jr. VIP subscription and account age are a huge red flag.

I would also advise people to only buy from legitimate sales threads where a mod review has taken place.

If people are selling outside of the marketplace report it.

Yup. Right on point. Just as stated here: https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/paypal-short-advice-for-newbies-for-safe-shopping.923616/

From not paying fee to a PayPal only seller benefits and buyer who actually pays for service loses option for dispute and protection as transaction is being considered sent to a trusted family member and of course therefor there is no fee included.

Naah it does not matter at all. :) I had no intention to hijack this thread neither. I was just hoping that it will reach to some of the newbies one way or another to stop being scammed in such a blunt manner.

Many people don't know the difference between those 2 options maybe because they haven't get scammed before. They learn the hard way.
Like 20% of my buyers try to pay as friends but they end up getting an error because PayPal disabled this feature and even they think we indians are born scammers.

If the seller is to cheap, then ask them for the paypal fee and tack it onto the price.

It's even stated in my sticky thread about avoiding scams here: https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/avoiding-scams-staying-safe-on-black-hat-world.884947/
These people have so many warnings it's ridiculous. I can understand not seeing these threads, but some of these people insist on doing business with the shadiest person they can find.

Black Hat World could look like this and they would still find a way to get scammed.
