I don't think you're getting the actual essence of this thread, there are lot more sinister things happening than newbies trying to inflate their post count.

I do understand the angst here. However, to be honest, I dont really think the few minutes a BST gets exposure after a bump is the main driver to its sales funnel. Your own advertising on the platform, either via your signature or rented signatures or ads purchased from BHW is a bigger driver. So I really think yes, while ways to curb this trend should be looked into, I am hoping BHW mods will not throw a way the baby with the bathwater. I have had quite a few purchases from people who found my BST via google search engines, joined the forum and ordered what they were looking for on their first few posts. Perhaps their posts on the BST should not be allowed to bump the tread.. but again I have had good responses from others as a result of the bump brought about by a newbie.

That's the main sales-driven tactic and it's working.

That's why it's systematic and they are doing this on a daily basis.

But stickies are precisely that? Stickies? I thought they are always there regardless of other non sticky thread bumpings? I really dont get it yet..maybe i am missing something?

parker started spamming heavily from november 8, he filled 3 pages on one of his threads from then to today all with newbie accounts...

Stickies are stuck on page1 of a subforum, but when you bump your sticky the last thing you want to see is these 3-4 sellers using their shills to push your thread down to position 5.

I do understand that yes it works for them..what I am saying is that I dont think it takes much of the responsibility for depriving a sticky thread or an advertised BST from getting its own exposure. They stepped up their game, a BST owner can step up his exposure too by perhaps getting busier on the forum, exposing his signature or buying advertising or buying signatures of active users.

That is exactly the problem, you don't incentivize members to write more messages and help people or buy ads and signatures because these guys can just create a new account every day and bump their thread to the home page where most of the traffic is.

Nothing that you say makes any sense.

They are gaming the system by breaking the TOS. The only difference is that they use VPNs and anti-detect not to get caught.

If I buy sticky it's up to my sole discretion but that doesn't mean that those sellers can keep doing what they do.

They buy stickies too, they pump over the sellers who have bought stickies.

Basically what you are saying is that we need to buy advertisements, banner spaces, and stickies and pay thousands of dollars per month just because they should be able to continue what they are doing.

No I am not saying they should be able to continue what they are doing. On the contrary. What they are doing is not good. But the only fair solution I see is the whack-a-mole strategy of reporting and banning the accounts as quickly as possible, and possibly, investigating the main beneficiaries of their activities. That definitely should be done. What I am saying in addition to that is that BST owners themselves can also step up their game. At least I know from personal experience, when I have had slowdowns, I actively stepped up my game by being more active and it worked.

If we say okay only accounts with X number of posts can bump a thread, it only raises the bar a while, and that will be overcome also, so that is not a good solution. Perhaps the best solution is to investigate the beneficiaries of these activities. Its easy to spot if you try.
