Hi there,

Not sure if this is the correct forum, seems appropriate enough. What's the legal side of using BH techniques on a site you've acquired through, and say you use, white hat techniques? I thought as long as I have a thing in my contract about no liability for adverse affects (sandboxing, dancing, de-indexing)?

Most SEO firms uses black hat techniques. The thing is,clients can't see the tier 2,3 etc of links so they get easily fooled that they are receiving fully whitehat techniques. If you have liability for adverse effects, then you're safe 100%.I guess you don't have in your contract your full seo strategy :D

What is Black Hat vs White Hat, though? They are subjective terms and have different meanings depending on who you ask.

If it's something you're worried about get a lawyer to write up an agreement and make your clients sign it before you begin (You should do that anyway).
