cocaine or amphetamine. You can be awake for few days without any problem. But might be bit bad for your health in long run. Maybe better start out with coffee/ energy drinks

For Real, Go To Sleep Dude! There comes a point when you are so wiped out that it takes you 5 times as long to get something done as if you got your rest and tackled it fresh. Problem is your brain is so fogged that you don't realize how slow your working.

Well I would recommend you to avoid it, as beeing awake for 7 days straight has potential to carry you onto the other side. However:

1. Forget coffee. Much better choice is some flavour of black tea. It will awake all of your body, not just increase your heart rate.

2. As people already suggested, fasting works. Body switches to food searching mdoe which keeps you awake.

3. Cold drinks, showers, ac everything. However, this only works if you use it in a usually warm environment. Otherwise it will put you to sleep.

Stay connected to BHW. Ask anything of interest (like this thread) and the constant stream of answers will keep you glued to your PC. No question of being tired and needing to hit the bed then.

As I was the slave in some school, I tried once modafinil, it was awesome but when you get to bed you feel like a zombie and you can get depressed... anyway it was better then coffee.

today I prefer guarana. You could also try kratom, it will give you a warm feelings and motivation.. I love to do my IM stuff on kratom once a week ... like today lol

another method: find someone to do your stuff for cheap (outsource). and goto sleep... people say that sleep is good.

create a motivational poster:
find some funeral picture and write "I will sleep when I'am dead"

Hey man, you say you've been awake for 4 days straight, no? That's good going already, don't try and stay awake much longer cos it will only f*ck up up in the long run... My maximum was 6 days and that was smoking weed and driving 2500kms per day throughout Europe, but then I was just 23 years old!

This IS interesting. This might work really well in conjunction with some of the mindsync audio programs that are supposed to put you directly into REM sleep. I wonder if this was the basis of "Power Naps?"

While you are on the everything2 site you might want to check out the "Everyman Sleep Schedule"
which is a modified version of Uberman involving a 3 hour nap and 3 20 min naps.
