    Hello All,

I'm not sure if this was covered before but I wanted to share it anyway.

    Summary:
There's a bug with facebook like button & IE (all versions?) that creates false impressions for your sites (can be seen in analytics and adsense reports). Thus it increases your reported pageviews but decreases adsense CTR since those views are fake.

    Story:
I was fiddling with my adsense placements for about a month now and never managed to increase page ctr above 2% (3 ad units, 3 link units)

Also, my site has lost some rankings in google but impressions per day was increasing. I always thought something wrong with checking the SERPs or additional keywords were adding up etc.

There were lots of pages in Analytics with ?fb_xd_fragment added to the original page url. I didnt even take the time to search for that (lazy me!)

But when I searched yesterday I read that there was a bug with facebook like button that occurs with IE browsers. There are javascript fixes for the issue, but I didnt bother dealing with it and removed the button(s) (I had 2 of the same button).

So today when I checked my adsense stats my CTR was around 5% but of course impressions were very low compared to previous days. But after all, there's no point in bloated impressions if they dont make you money. Maybe with better CTR, adsense may serve higher CPC ads (fingers crossed).

    Conclusion:

    - Facebook like buttons create dummy impressions with IE browsers. Higher the percentage of IE users, higher the number of false impressions.

    - You can search and find fixes if you still want to use buttons.

    Hope it helps,

    Regards,

    well,

you can search for the keyword "fb_xd_fragment" that will give you sufficient results. Also, if I'm not mistaken it's already in facebook's bug list.

    my experience is ,

yesterday at this time of the day. I had almost the same number of clicks, same revenue but about 2-3 times more impressions.

You can wait for me to test for 2-3 days and I can give exact numbers. then you can decide.

another interesting thing is I think the dummy impressions increase with number of buttons on a page.

I had 2 identical buttons on every page and my impressions were quite high.

I'll report back if anyone is interested.

I checked my analytics account again

I've added the like button on 10th march.

before 10th march, pages / visit for the site was around 2.8
After 10th march, pages / visit suddenly jumped to 4.74 then stayed around 4.0

Last two days it was 5.27 and 5.01
    Today it's 2.10 :)

And before 10th march, pages / visit for IE users was 3.23
    After 10th march, it's around 7.00
    today 2.14 :)

I think these numbers tell a thing.
