Brock Lesnar vs. Alistair Overeem
Overeem, I'm hoping he can stop takedowns and finish Lesnar
Nate Diaz vs. Donald Cerrone
Cerrone, been on a tear lately
Jon Fitch vs. Johny Hendricks
Can't bet against Fitch really, I'm picking him by decision
Vladimir Matyushenko vs. Alexander Gustafsson
Gustafsson, great striking although Matyushenkos only loss lately is Bones so hes a big threat
Can't say rest
my bets would differ if the odds were posted
but just straight up i like
overeem, diaz, and fitch
This is one of the closest cards ever produced. I don't think ANY fight is a lock. I don't think this is a great "betting" card. Only fight I would bet on is Nam Phan winning. I think Nam Phan is smart enough to avoid submissions and his opponent isn't very experienced.
My parlay looks like this:
1. Volkmann beats Efrain Escudero
2. Stun Gun beats Pierson
1. Nam Phan
Not sure about:
1. Jon Fitch has amazing lay and pray, but Hendricks is a wrestler and Fitch hasn't faced an NCAA champ wrestler, plus Hendricks has been knocking motherfuckers out. Still not decided.
2. Cerrone is going to be my pick. Nate got manhandled by Rory McDonald and Cerrone should have good enough bjj defence. Plus he has a 28-0 kickboxing record. He's never been knocked out either.
3. I'm gonna do 2 parlays. One with Brock and one with Overeem. It makes sense because Brock's last fight wasn't all that terrible. He came out and immediately rushed Velasquez and I'm sure if it was anyone else he could've held them to the ground, but Cain is an NCAA champion as well. I wish it was an easy win for Overeem.
This is a very close card...
I expect to see Fitch lose. I know he's everybody's favorite in this one, but this is his first fight where he belongs. As a gatekeeper to see if another fighter is worthy of the upper level. I expect him to either get TKO'd or lose a decision. If he wins, it will be another 3 rounds of him tying up his opponent and being the most boring fighter in the division alongside Shields.
I have to go for Diaz also. I love the way both those brothers fight and this is going to be a scrap. Nate got tossed around by McDonald, but come on.. McDonald is a beast, mini-GSP. Ever since his first couple fights, it's hard to pick against him. Plus, I'm not impressed with Cerrone's resume whatsoever. Just like Diaz said in the countdown...
Come on, man... Dennis Siver? Really?
It's the heavyweight bout that I'm undecided on. Overeem is a monster, but so is Brock. IMO it's all about whether or not he can stay off his back, if Lesnar gets to taking him down, it's going to be over. Brock's got the wrestling, he's naturally the bigger guy and he's the shorter stockier fighter, so every advantage is his on the ground. Whether he can stand there and throw down with Alistar is the question, I doubt he's training to do that, so it goes back to if Alistar can defend the takedown.
I don't really see Brock being under question in this fight, I see Overeem being the one with questions. He's not going to toss Brock around like Cain did, so that TKO is out the window. Will he be able to KO him? Can he stuff the takedowns? ... These are not, go out and get a big guy who can wrestle takedowns... They're division ONE NCAA national champion takedowns. From a guy who's heavier than you, much shorter than you (so if he gets inside with that attempt, you go boom,) and naturally bigger and stronger.
Frank Mir thought he was going to pump on 50lbs and go beat the shit out of Brock, too.
cerrone has never been submitted
i called the lesnar fight and am so glad he is done-
called the diaz fight but he won on a decision- oh well
I wish I knew a good place to bet cause I can call most of these fights in my dreams. The fights are getting harder to call though. The level of competition is crazy.
vegas! go see a live ufc fight and bet a few hundred.
- watching a live ufc fight at Mandalay bay is out of this world
Man, am I glad I didn't make any bets... went 0 for 3 on the top 3 fights of the night. Picked: Lesnar, Cerrone, Fitch...
