Better to create a brand new FB or just clean out old one?

These days it seems that the best way to keep in touch with those you know is to simply use Facebook. I've got an old account where I've used my real name etc but after thinking twice I don't really want to be easily findable to the Internet for obvious reasons, nor do I want FB to store my details. Would it be better to create a brand new account and re-add those that I know under a nickname or just clean up my old account and change the name on that?

Better to open a new one and stay anonymous...

To be truly anonymous, don't use facebook at all.

However, yeah, I'd just start a new one. Login to the old and connect with the people you still want to stay in touch with...

Facebook has more info than the Stasi. Set yourself up under any pseudonym and the bastards will still find you and everyone you have ever come near in your life and try to bring you together again.

I have a facebook account but only for business and they still manage to find people I went to school with 20 odd years ago to get in touch.

Delete the lot and tell people to find you on Twitter.

That's the hard thing these days... There are those I want to keep in touch with and those I don't really care about. But if the majority use Facebook, it's hard to move onto something else. I think I will create a new FB under a pseudonym and try to get them to move to things like Skype.

Its an addictive thing. I like to keep in touch with friends and family worldwide but Ive had too many emails from friends of ex-girlfriends and random friends of family members to say I hate it.. Prob easier for me to say as I was never big into it....Keep trying to get friends into Twitter but takes a while for it to click.

I don't really like Twitter either, just another networking platform.

I bet you would like twitter if you just tried it anonymously and only followed people you like for a few weeks(including stars-celebs-mere mortals, etc etc)Its a very different experience to FB.

I would keep the account as FB never forgets. Even if you do open a new account people will put you in their contacts by your RL name and thus identifying you. Had this happen to me with email, don't use FB myself so could be wrong. Then again, FB is to humans what google is to data.

Why not tell everybody you are switching to whatever and from that point on they have a choice:
Either contact you on your new platform with asap replies or
Contact you on FB and wait a week+ before you reply and again tell them you have switched.

    Just a thought. :)
