I have been a member of this community for a couple years now and every now and again I find myself coming back here for resources, tips, and inspiration, and figured I'd give back to this community by posting a video that I initially created for something completely different.

It is basically me telling my success story with free blog networks and how you can duplicate the success I had.

I lost the video quality (was recorded in HD) when I edited it. Not sure what I did wrong, so I apologize in advance for that. Also, it was thundering non-stop as well as lightening and raining on and off so, there is a lot of background noise I was unable to edit out, but looking beyond that, I think there is some practical and valuable information there to be had for those interested.

Nothing that will make you a billionaire overnight, but it does lay out a simple and proven system anyone with enough will-power can duplicate.

Just to give you an example: One of the free blogs my virtual assistant made for me 6 months ago now has a PR 4. I have not checked all of them (though I did see a few PR2s and PR3s as well), but I think that is pretty impressive - especially when considering I did not do a whole lot of backlink building to them.

NOTICE to COMPLAINERS (because there always are a few):
I have nothing for sale here and am posting it strictly out of good will. So if you have a problem with that, please don't waste your time by commenting or waste someone else's time & mental energy to have to put up with you. Find a way to contribute in a positive way or don't say anything at all!

Otherwise, let me know your thoughts/experiences in this regard. I am always open to learning new tricks-of-the-trade from people who are actually SUCCESSFUL at the SEO game.

    Cheers,

    Konrad

Cool video, basically describes my current sentiments. Follow this strategy with self-hosted blogs as well and you're golden.

You just said the basics. Nothing new. 3 blogs - 3 links and you alredy ranked higher because of that? Very very low competetive keyword I guess.
    Anyway, thanks for video.

I think it's a good long term strategy to build a network of quality free blogs. No cost and won't get deindexed, but it will take time to invest. I'm using hubpages, squidoo, wordpress and blogger and PR2 doesn't take a lot of work.
Glad you shared the video - will be interested to see a few more specifics of what you actually did

Nothing new, I know. Just something that WORKED... and something that will continue to work if done right. I guess that is all I wanted to share!

Not sure where you got 3 blogs from. Just for the record, it was a two word keyphrase in the weightloss niche... so most definitely not a low competition keyword.

If people would focus on (and actually implemented on a consistent basis) the basics that are proven to work, they would have a far greater shot at succeeding in the SEO game then they do by always hunting for new and shiny (and yet shortlived) shortcuts.

    Cheers ;)

Haha yeah! 2:05 - I thought " ... where comming from the free blogs that my VA..." .

So now I can't agree more. Web 2.0 blogz are the power of todays internet. Create multi tier piramide , link it and put links there. 2.0 blogz easly gets PR if you link them. They are far better from private blog networks because google won't ban the whole website because 10/100/1000 spammers have there their blogz. They just don't care coz there are 500 000 users with good quality blogz.

Free/three problem solved. Again - good video post. The quality of the sound was low and I heard three instead of free. Hah!

    Cheers!

Thanks for your video, i´m running a small german blog network (around 10 blogs). These blogs are all from my failed keyword research :/ so i want to use these as backlinks. Should i Post Articles with backlinks to it, or Use the blogroll feature?

Generally I always preached "in content" backlinks rule (and they do) but to my big surprise I found that some of the links that were getting so much credit from Google (according to TrafficTravis) were not the in-content links but rather the in-blogroll links. Both were placed at approximately the exact same time so, time did not make the difference here.

I guess one of the main advantages of blogroll links is that they get (on most templates) linkjuice from every page of that blog instead of just one - but aside from that, I don't really have a theory on the matter. Has anyone else tested this? Would be curious as well!

agent007 - how many free blogs did you create and do you keep posting to those blogs to keep information fresh? Do you have anything pointing to the free blogs that you created kind of like a link pyramid where you have articles pointing to web 2.0 sites and those point to the money site? Thanks

I think this method work because one of my sites rank on the second page of Google with about 96 percent links from blogger-a real blog not spam one.

You know I've been having a lot of similar success with my clients... one KW with 10k exact searches #3 in 3 months. I've just been making a lot of blogs with high spun content and building link pyramids to them. I never interlink though. That being said I have a question for you...

What do you think of self hosted blogs(w/ 301 redirects for aging) on different IPs pointing back to your site. Would you recommend this or do you think that you can achieve the same results with free blog networks?

Because I went on travels, I did not update those blogs for like 5 or so months. I've been tempted to do so now, but figure my time is better spent creating new "real" blogs. I hope that makes sense.

I had about 40 or so blogs created per money site (if I recall correctly). Some probably more... some likely less. It's been a while!

I had a linkwheel style network created around each of the free blog sites. Here is the formula I handed to my VAs: http://empiremarketing.ca/seo/BuildYourBlogNetwork.pdf (I sold that guide on the WF but it needs updating so, you can have it for free). Basically... my approach (going forward) would be to make real free blogs rather then "fake pretentious" blogs (as suggested in the guide).

I hope that answers your question.

Probably works just as fine... can get pricey though.

I used to be a big pusher with link networks. They worked great when hammered with a few hundred to few thousand articles per month. Now it's just too risky. I still use LinkVana (with great results) but am almost leaning more towards using free blog networks. I guess for longterm health and success, a bit of everything can't be too bad.

Anyways... I am theorizing and it's never good. All I know is that what I explain in the video works :) and that is good enough for me... at least for now!

    lol

    Happy Thai New Years Ya'll!

Just in case anyone wants a list of blogs to work with, here is phpbuilt's list from BHW.
