Better rankings updating old content than creating new ones

Since G last 2 updates I'm having better results updating old posts/content or just adding media than creating new content. I'm still working hard for trending topics and keep things up and fresh, but older posts are doing pretty good just adding more content.

Even blogs with few backlinks are doing fine. One of my blogs about BDSM and S&M have less than 150 BL and still rank 2,3, 6 and 8 for major KW. Up to 20% visitors since 23 January when I've noticed the escalating results.

I'd like to have your input about it and if guys are having the same results or using similar techniques. Thanks in advance;)

You're not alone, I see the same thing, it's really strange how google behaves these days. Had a few posts that lost ranking over the past few months, since the end of September 2018 to be more specific. After updating them (middle of April 2019) most of them came back. Over the past year, there were a lot of google algo updates, I'm pretty sure that some of it had something to do with the content freshness (that might depend on a niche) or if you didn't add new content they didn't crawl your website as often as they used to causing a rank loss. I did not build new links to them, just updated them. Some posts did not come back even after I updated them, I'm pretty sure that it has something to do with links or anchor text optimization, I was pretty aggressive with it and now have to figure the way out of it.

That's really good news for me. What type of site you have, is it typical tube site or blog-type site..??
I have a tube site with almost 8K videos which are non-edited, i.e simply embedded from major tubes. All their title, meta etc are the same as the source.
I was thinking to delete them. Now I'm thinking to edit the title, meta etc to make those videos unique.
Do you think this will help them rank..?? Or I should delete the videos..?? What's your thought..??

its actually one of the method shared by ahref.

you can put your website in ahref to see which are the keywords ranking on page 2

then create content around those keywords and add them into your old blog post and update it.

it can rank better than creating a new post for that piece of content

I think you're talking about two different things, In my case I didn't do that (and I'm aware of the ahref method), it was pure refresh, I just changed a few sentences (didn't even care for the keywords as I wanted to force Google to recrawl the page(s)), in another post I just changed an image, and hit update on my WP panel. After that, I went to GSC, did 'url inspection' and clicked 'request indexing' next to 'page has changed' to speed things up.

Noticed that since late last year, just updating the content and putting LSI keywords works well, so also building fresh links to old posts.

However, changing the title don't yield more result for me

Updating content is like adding value to it . A term called topic attribution means interlinking old articles from new ones will benefit you more

I've noticed Revisionary Links (also called 'niche edits') have been much more effective as of late as well.

what is niche links. Please explain
I think he meant a link from a website related to your website topic/niche, but have no idea what 'Revisionary Links (also called 'niche edits')' means. Hope he'll provide more details.

Niche-relevant links built on pre-existing pieces of content that are already indexed / ranking. There are a number of BST services offering these links, with varying metrics / pricepoints.

Escort services are 80% of my SEO biz and the rest 20% are money sites. Escorts sites are tagged as some sort of 'e-commerce' by G so blog posts will help them rank better. Since it's tough to add SEO value to 'e-commerce' quickly. My money sites Im updating content by making my posts bigger and media-related. Every three paragraphs Im adding image or video heavily linked 'so to speak, not literally' with the content giving huge attention to their meta-tags.

Sorry I digress. You should work on your titles, meta etc. Try to edit some of your videos and rename it. Regarding adult content? G dont give a sh*t for duplicate content or smooth Black Hat...

Not a bit. You can safely change the title and Im not sure (?) why, the words UPDATE, UPDATED or 2019 also helps a lot since you are really adding new content to existing ones. More/bigger content are really outranking backlinks. I suggest investing in rich snippets. It's working better than I thought it would.

Im also updating/rewriting almost 100% of the first paragraph so I generate better rich snippet with thumbnails.
