    Hi,

I am quite new to linkedin, I want to try it. Have created a fake recruiter account, it looks believable. Now - how should I add people?

I am searching for local Java and .NET programmers, so I find them - then linkedin asks me "How do you know this person?" is it colleague, classmate, friend etc - does this matter? I tried to be honest and chosed "I dont know this person" but linkedin wont allow me to send invitation.

What do you guys chose here? And based on your experience, how many of such invites can you send per day from a fresh free account?

    thanks!

A lot of people hate Recruiters, make the profile neutral eg Social Media / Community Manager, make the photo of a realistic (not too beautiful) female and personalize the message.

    Thanks for this tip.

Do you sent invites to completely unknown 3rd level people? What do you chose if linkedin asks you "How do you know this person"? Friend, Classmate etc...does this matter?

This is what I did to get an 'Elite' top 3% profile

    1. Made an Excellent Profile: You know the type that people wow over and are curious about. To do this effectively, find a few profiles you Love and let them inspire you.
    2. Current Network: Connect with all of the 'best' people you know on LinkedIn. These could be co-workers, bosses, classmates, etc... Any good white color professionals would work.
    > Focus On Clusters: You want to Penetrate a Group. In my case I made friends with a group from 'Twitter'... It was a small group that I become good friends with. But having 5 'Twitter Tech Employees' made it really easy. Next thing you know, LinkedIn was recommending other people that those 5 people knew.
    3. Social Climbing: Once you have penetrated a cluster, and LinkedIn is suggesting people they know, send request. Before I knew it I had nearly a 100 people at Twitter then some people at Google, Uber, etc... Just socially climb!

    Lastly,

    Find and Connect with CONNECTORS
I have noticed that in many Social Networks and Groups 'like Techies in SF' there are a FEW that know EVERYONE!
In my case, this little asian developer from Google probably new a few thousand programers from Silicon Valley to NYC to Shanghai and everyhwere in between. He was showing up as a mutual connected across the board for hundreds of my connects. EVERYONE KNEW THIS GUY

This is the Guy you Really want to Connect with!

If you select friend and add them it works. It also doesn't give the other person any indication that you selected friend.

Just choose a friend that does not really matter in the end
    I always do like this
    Good luck

Thx for all your answers! What is the difference between inviting 2nd and 3rd level people? Are limits different or something?
