Best way to use a domain to SEO another?

Hey all, long time no talk. Good to be back

So let's say I have SFWaterBabies.com (pretend it's the business name of my swimming lessons) and I also have SanFranciscoSwimmingLessons.com (pretend "san francisco swimming lessons" has high search volume and low SE competition).

What's the best way to use SanFranciscoSwimmingLessons.com to optimize SFWaterBabies?

Should I just use article marketing, targeting 'san francisco swimming lessons', and then on SFSL.com put a handful of articles pointing to SFWaterBabies?

Yeah that's pretty much exactly how to do it. Treat your site the same as you would any other authority site you want to get a backlink from (even if it isn't one). The great thing about having your own site to backlink from, is that you can create full articles including links within the article, instead of just blog comments. Don't overdo it though, if it's a smaller site then just one or two articles should be sufficient. If it's a larger site then maybe a few more as long as you can make them all relevant and unique. There should at least be an appearance of a purpose to the articles for the site your putting them on beyond just making backlinks to your other site. Otherwise you'll just make your other site look spammy.

Also, you could create reciprical links if you want, but it will give more benefit if you pick one of the sites and only make the links in one direction.

SFWaterBabies probably doesn't have much of a chance to rank for 'san fransisco swimming lessons' so in general is the technique outlined above the best way to grab the SE traffic for 'san fransisco swimming lessons'?

My thought would be yes. especially if you anchor it with that term.

I'd also suggest you make backlinks on other sites using that anchor as well.

Look at my threads on Basic SEO, and Understanding the Simulation. Just keep those things in mind and work out an overall SEO strategy with both websites in mind. You should be able to develop a strategy which can help both domains, and then use the one domain to drive even more traffic and authority to the other.

Maybe someone else can offer some additional advice that could help even more.
