I've never done any SEO before. I have a local business with a 2 months old website that I need to rank for on local google. The website is not in english.

I'm looking for a white(ish)-greyhat method/service to rank for my keywords on local google in the long term, rather than the hit-and-run blackhat method that can ruin rankings with google updates or get it blacklisted/sandboxed.

I understand that blasting backlinks to the website may not be advisable in my case. I was looking at services in the marketplace and was tempted by some of them but I am not sure what would be good and what would be bad in my case.

I have a monthly budget of around 100$ for this.

Anyone has experience in this kind of things and know what works?

If this is your own business $100 is fine in fact you can do it all manually by yourself
for nothing. You want long term stability then don't rush a thing. just rank gradually and
you will stick far longer then the sites that shoot to the top and need continuous SEO to
keep them there. If your site is stable all it takes is a little maintenance to keep your position.

really? some services on the marketplace are around this price so I thought it would be fine in the beginning if I select the right services.
Yeah, I'm looking to rank gradually, I'm not in a hurry. But I just don't know how to get started and what to do exactly. There's so much information in here that it's easy to get lost and confused. I don't mind doing things manually but I don't mind outsourcing parts of it either, if I know what to get exactly.

You are right oxonbeef, but $100 is a very low budget if he needs some professional. If you can provide me guarantee local rankings in $100 let me know I will split a lot of work towards you.

It surely depends on the competition of the keywords.

$100 is okay if you do all of the manual works, like writing articles, making web 2.0, etc.

But if you will buy different services I dont think that your $100 will sufficient for a month. You will get low quality links with your $100 or few high quality links.

I don't mind writing articles. I need to read more about what web 2.0s are since I don't know what they are exactly.

In my mind the 100$ was mostly for getting backlinks since I have no idea how to do this and I think it's too hard to do for someone who is just beginning.

Of course if I see positive results then I could readjust my budget accordingly. That's just what I want to begin with.

Thanks. I'm not looking to outsource everything, just the things that are hard to do for a beginner (backlinks mostly).

I will go on and do some reading and come up with a plan.

I know that their budget is not that high, but there are some business that cannot afford to spend more money.

And I also assume that OP knows the language of their local business

It depends on the competition. I rank some local sites on first page with less than 5 links and some on-site seo.
