I have a site in a programming niche getting around 2.5-3k uniques a day, 98% organic. I've setup adsense but the CTR is pretty low at 0.3%. Any ideas on extra monetizing? I tried infolinks but they barely make anything.
Programmers (I think i speak for them all) Know that ads are bs. Most of them we won't even click on. I always look over ads. i dont even read them.
You should try affiliate offers when I go on a css site I see some interesting things about themes & learning things where i would click on. Because that is what I like
I can't tell you what to offer but I am 100% sure that adsense and infolinks are not your answer. I'll do my standard and tell you that you need to test a variety of things out but what I would be doing in your shoes is chatting up some of the affiliate managers with whom you have a relationship and see what they have to say.
I speak with some of mine on a regular basis just as a matter of keeping an open door relationship and I have had issues at times with the proper monetization and have had some real help from them.
Many marketers see them as the enemy for some reason but they are really there to help you make money as they make money when you do.
Create a product for your visitors and sell it- A course, ebook, etc
OR an affiliate offer. LOSE adsense. Even if you have to rotate in offers until one works..test test test!
Programmers...just brain storming as I'm typing... maybe affiliate programs related to deals on: Dedicated servers, VPS, Proxies, an up and coming IDE, computers or other physical tech products, etc.
specifically, the site has code examples and tutorials to help with coding. Obviously most people are on there to get help with a specific programming problem- it may be hard to sell affiliates to them?
