Just wondering whats the best way to make a video gig for fiverr (assuming this has some bearing on the ranking of the gig?).

Don't necessarily want to stage my own video as I don't have high quality web cam, or the desire to be in front of one:)

Although they say that the video should be self-featuring, do they normally approve third party produced videos, or white-board style videos?

I see sellers use other fiverr video gigs for their gig videos all the time. But honestly I can't say if it's helpful. Personally I don't think you need a video unless you are offering some sort of video review, or audio based service. I've learned not to click the videos for SEO services as it's usually some lame text animation with annoying music that conveys less information than the gig description. Still, people do like clicking play buttons, so I don't know what the conversion difference would be for you.

Non webcam videos are approved without any problems. WhiteBoard style videos or animoto videos are also approved. The only thing you have to keep in mind is that you use royalty free images in the videos (if you are making use of images that is). Also make sure you put this line in the video - "Exclusive Fiverr Service"

Thanks. I might try a whiteboard gig for it in that case :)

Just thought it wouldn't do any harm to have video seeing as every time you make a gig they try to convince you video is important:)
