I'm looking to generate dozens of unique links from a single URL. Either through some type of shortening service or script, link cloaking script or some other method. I know this must be a very common need, but I've been searching and researching and can't seem to find a simple and reasonable way to do this.

very good question , I struggeled to find the question to this one as well.

Here is what you do, in your cpanel add a subdomain called * , in your redirects set it to redirect *.yourdomain.com to www.yourdomain.com

Then just keep generating shortened urls for imaginary subdomains. They won't see it as duplicate cause it's a new url everytime. sdqf.yourdomain.com , sdqfds.yourdomain.com , etc etc.

some guy also recommended to put this in your htaccess ( don't set the redirect in cpanel if you try this one ) :

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\. [NC]
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.yourdomain.com/$1 [L,R=301]

So you might have to do it , seems to work fine with the cpanel redirect thing only for some ppl , for some not.

    Hope that helps.

    Even simpler Solution.

    Suppose you have http://www.xyz.com/something.html

You can add random numbers after it like this...

    1. http://www.xyz.com/something.html?123
    2. http://www.xyz.com/something.html?674
    3. http://www.xyz.com/something.html?5678
    And so on...

And now you can create a new unique shortened urls for all of these... And they will all take you to the same page which is http://www.xyz.com/something.html

We have a bot that does all of it just at a click of button... where you just enter the base url...and the number of shortened urls you want... It just does every thing and creates shortened urls using bit.ly, goo.gl etc.

PM me if you need help with this.

    Thanks,
    Pat

Good ideas. I think I'll try patmiller27's suggestion. Now the question is, how can I quickly take a url or group of urls and generate a bunch of unique shortened links. Surely there must be a script or service somewhere that does this.

good suggestion , I didn't know that it works with normal html pages as well . I use that method all the time for bit.ly links .
