I am doing some keyword research for the moment, at the moment on Google Keyword planner. What's the best and cheapest and most accurate way to find out keyword competition?

Google the keyword and see what types of sites that will show on Googles first page, and ask yourself if you can be better than them and if you think you can then go for it

Free way: Google it. Analyze the competitors who are ranking. Also look for the relevance of the exact keyword in the articles your competitors published. Analyze the strength of your competitors by checking their DA PA on moz. Check their backlinks to see if you can beat them.

Paid way: Either Longtailpro or Keyword Revealer. They do all the works stated above for you apart from the backlink checking. They will also give you a score based on the competitiveness of the keyword.
