Hey guys, can anyone recommend a good alternative to paypal that will accept bodybuilding supplements. the product im selling is actually marketed as a "legal steroid alternative" and although its 100% legal some payment processors might have problems with this

Im looking for something similar to paypal where they hold my funds til i decide to withdraw it, i wanted to go with paypal but am worried they will limit my account for no reason and keep my money.

Iv got a site currently on page 2 and 3 for a number of keywords which together are searched about 10k times daily according to googles keyword tool, so i need this sorted out before i hit page 1 so that im ready to accept orders and hopefully make some good cash:)

Ultimately i want to open a merchant account in my country with one of the local banks but for now i need a simple way to accept payments like paypal.

    Anyone got any advice?

    Thanks in advance guys

Try Google Checkout, not sure they will accept supplements though.

Alertpay, great customer service and they take almost any niche. Plus they transfer money to your account fast. I like them and suggest them to a lot of people.

you cannot afford the luxury to not to offer PayPal for your customers as a possible way of paying because very few of them has AlertPay, Moneybookers etc., so if you don't want to use PayPal directly, you'll need a payment processor which accepts PayPal payments, these are 2Checkout and Plimus

    Authorize.Net also worth a look

thanks for the replies guys, maybe i should try paypal until i get my merchant account. hopefully they dont limit my account.

Anyone got any advice when it comes to people opening disputes? i will be sending packages with tracking numbers, is that enough proof for me to win disputes? i know alot of people like trying to get their money back after they recieve their packages and from what i have heard paypal likes to favour the buyer

I have had paypal for 4 years and I think they are very good. There was one incident where I logged into my account from a different IP, and they limited it until I could show proof that it was my account. Once I complied they immediately resumed my service. Basically as long as you own the account and there are no issues with the funds going into the account you're fine. I would say they do favor the buyer, and I really can't complain about that because I have dealt with shady sellers before, and by opening disputes I ultimately got my funds back. Fortunately, I have never been on the losing end of a dispute. I would say though, if you are a seller, have all the proof and info you could possibly have ready, in case you get the rare buyer who tries to rip you off.

we use paypal website payments pro entirely and we sell sports nutrition and supplement products, we sell approximatly £15 - 20k per month.

Payments pro allows you to offer credit card payment seperate to paypal so they just enter their details on your site.

We have had a few issues with certain products in the past that paypal didnt like so its worth checking with them first, but 99% of our products have been ok with them.

Worth noting we are moving to Sage Pay as we are in the uk and it ties in with our accontancy software however this is mainly because we are creating a new site on a different shopping cart that doesnt support payments pro

Give me a shout if you need any help mate

thats just their policy for closing accounts (to loot your remaining balance).

check "monetary penalties" under their TOS

Alertgay is actually just like gaypal; heres why:

their fees are only 3.5% so they arent making any money unless you hit millions of dollars in sales; yet they are both registered banks (alertgay is "jameson bank" and paypal is a registered bank in lichtenstein)

so they wantonly freeze accounts just to hold the money and earn interest for themselves on it.

you'll rarely hear of clickbank or click2sell freezing accounts because they charge a healthy 10%; and vendors are saturated with affilliates (spread the blame) even if your chargebacks get a little high they just raise the fee for them and rolling reserve until its resolved, and temporarily disable your ability to combat refund requests.

whereas motherf&ckers (see below) just cancelled all my recurring billing subscriptions and in some cases stole my money:

    alertgay -stole
    gaypal
    plimus
    swreg -stole
    paypay -stole
    2checkout -stole
    google checkout -stole
    wells fargo merchant processing
    firstdata

ps if you ship via non traceable post then you are 100% banned from paypal when they feel like doing it (when you withdraw your funds, not before).
