I'm a total newbie to IM and BH, although I do have some experience with article writing, blogging, etc. I've been reading the forums over the last few weeks, and since it seems like many members are earning the most money promoting CPA offers, I think that's what I'd like to focus my efforts on.

The only issue, though, is getting started... I have no idea where to even begin! I've been reading so many different personal accounts of what other folks are doing to make money that it's more than a little daunting.

If I need to spend money to get started, I have several hundred dollars I can contribute to start-up costs. I would even be willing to pay a "guru" to mentor me and help steer my efforts, although I don't have an excessive amount of money to spend on something like this.

I would appreciate any helpful suggestions on where/how to get started as a total "noob." Thanks in advance...

find something you're interested in. it is a lot easier to market something you are passionate about than something you have no interest in. hit me up if you want some pointers.

Hmm, that's a tough question. One thing I will tell you that even though you have a few hundred dollars as start-up cost do not try to start some adword campaigns.

If you're good at writing content you best bet is to set up blog (I'd go with one niche or a micro niche).

Maybe offer some locked content for you blog or website. Maybe offer semi-unique articles in return for filling out surveys.

Also look at associated conent as a option for making money.

Thanks to both of you for the suggestions. So are CPA offers only relevant when using them as incentives for visitors who may want to read the content on your website? Or are there "stand-alone" CPA offers (e.g., where the visitor has to fill out a survey for some free infoproduct, article, etc. hosted by the CPA network itself)?

NO no no no no. LOL. Most people do not promote CPA offers in that way. The point of a CPA offer is to generate traffic of people interested in what the offer is selling.

Got it. So do most people just set up a blog with some articles on it that can only be accessed if the visitor completes a survey? Is that how most people that actually make money with CPA marketing do it?

Wait, I think I misread your last reply, LOL. So you said that most marketers DON'T use incentivized traffic to persuade visitors into filling out their CPA offers? (e.g., "Help us focus our content creation efforts by filling out the short survey below and gain immediate access to this article!")?

I do, for example I offer content that users want to access and for them to access it they need to fill out a survey or a one page email submit. Check out "Black Hat Code Breaker"

Can anyone recommend any good & up-to-date CPA guides? A friend of mine recently expressed interest in dipping into IM in earnest (up till now he's just been running a few of his own hobby sites) and seems to like the concept of CPA... It's not my area of expertise tho, so I can't really help him much.
Are there any publications considered must haves? Neither of us are really newbies overall, so some intermediate to advanced course would be great to begin with.

This is supposed to be a pretty good primer, not that I know anything about the finer details of CPA just yet so I can't really give my own take on it. I found it an interesting read, and I even printed it out for reference.

Get some accounts in some cpa networks, adscendmedia and cp 4 lead are easy to get aproved, then search for methods here in this section, look for the threads wich have been rated with 4 or 5 stars rating and put some twists on them until you find one that suits you best.
