Best way/company to make money with a donwnload?

I recently came in possession of a piece of software which people will download, and i also think i can get to page 1 for at least a few decent keywords related to the download.

This is the first time I've been in this situation where I've had something which people online actually desire, so they'd probably jump through a hoop or two to get it, which means money for me.

What methods have you found most useful in this situation?

What companies have you used?

Thanks in advance for any input you may have to help me best utilize this opportunity.

Use content locker.... Put incentive offers for them... CPA* Lead or other similar things can be used or just charge for it......

You're referring to manually locking the content and then picking an affiliate item to make the prerequisite for unlock?

Is CPA* Lead the same sorta company as Maxbounty?

This seems like the right way to do it as something like sharecash always seems pretty buggy.

Adscend Media has some some gateways you can easily use and they weren't hard to join at all. I think I just signed up and got in but it was a few months ago and I really don't remember. There was no phone call though.

Yes same kind of company but they provide content locker... You can use your own content locker and pick offers which you want to use...

If network is providing content locker then you don't have to do much just pick options and once done, generate code and put it where you want it to be... You will need download locker (I mean locker will apply only when some one clicks on download button)... Adscend media doesn't have that many offers... Max bounty is another good option but if you use locker provided by network then you have to use their offer... Another option will be to have your own content locker... There are lots of options and even on BHW you can find one such product...

bumping to ask another question related to this project:

Ultimately the project, (that is, the place where this thing is hosted and described an etc) would only need 1-2 pages of content to pull off, and i don't have any domains that are related to technology at all. I've got a travel site and a personal blog, but nowhere where this would really fit in.

So the question is, where should i put this? Buy a new domain and bloat the content as much as possible so that it has it's own site? Or, should i tag it on to my personal blog? or my travel site?

what do you guys think?

Does a 1-2 page download project need its own domain? If i were to place it on one of my existing domains, would it cause a problem having tech keywords and travel keywords on the same domain? Where should i put this project??

I would put the project on its own separate domain especially if you plan on ranking for keywords related to the download. Exact match domain names can do wonders for you with regards to ranking. Even if you would like to rank for a variety of keywords having a related domain or a domain that includes some of the keywords definitely helps.

As for monetizing it, content locker is one choice. Depending upon the value of the download ($10+ imo), I'd just create a paypal buy it now button for the software.

I find that social networking sites are easy places to get .exe download traffic if the exe is a game

Thanks for the additional replies.
@Muscovy, this exe is used in troubleshooting and so really it's main value would come from SEO.

Unfortunately it really has no value as you can get a free version elsewhere, but this one is cracked and has other things built into it to make a complicated process only one step.

As such, i figure a content blocker is the best way to monetize it because i can't really be asking people to pay me directly for this.

So i guess i'll go apply over at CPA*lead as that seems to be the general consensus as to which company has the best ctr
