hi guys

i am starting a site which lists local city services (like carpet installers) so my domain is keywords.com

WHAT IS THE BEST URL STRUCTURE FOR SEO

1. city.keywords.com
2. keywords.com/city

I am building site with Wordpress.

I am hoping by doing this, it will help when someone types in example: "Florida Carpet Installers" - so which structure would be best for SEO? and growth of the site (many cities)

I would say a silo structure on a large scale. I have site I haven't worked on for months as far as content goes. It has a little over 100 articles , still has backlinks coming in on auto pilot, It's hitting first page for a ton of long tail keywords since the last update.

I agree with the previous post; the more specific you are, the better.

But if you want to go with a link structure like you stated, then make sure EVERY path has a page. Ex,

site.com/city/xxxcarpetinstallers

Make sure site.com/city/ has a page with a detailed article and links to other parts of your website. Onsite SEO is very powerful, and if you do it wrong, it can screw up the entire intent of the site.

Just make sure you have all your bases covered, and try to be as detailed as possible. Site.com/New-York/carpet is not good! Site.com/New-York/Carpet-installers-in-new-york is a much better way!

if the site is on wordpress ,then install all in one plugin .it will give suggestions which option is best for seo.I installed it and working fine
