My bank wants to charge me minimum of £8 to cash USD$ cheques from Amazon. Also there was talk of a 28 day waiting period for them to be processed..

I really cannot be ar*sed researching every damn bank account.. surely the wisdom of BHW Uk members can come into action here pleaseeeeeeee

Thats normal. Natwest charge me £7. Barclays is about the same because of the work involved in collecting the money. They also make you wait until they have actually collected the money from the US just in case the cheque had been stopped since it was sent. Even if you get direct bank transfers then the banks will charge you about the same to receive the money anyway.

£7 is a decent charge, you should consider if your work is worth it, or leave the money build up if you can, then withdraw a larger cheque.
